Core Formation is the breakthrough by which a Foundation Establishment cultivator condenses their mana into a Core and becomes a Core Formation cultivator, commonly addressed as a True Person. It marks a major increase in status, mobility, resources, and combat capability, but remains difficult even for Foundation Establishment Late Stage cultivators. 136 257

The breakthrough process still falls within the scope of Foundation Establishment; spiritual-root aptitude, mana purity, divine sense, state of mind, body condition, and auxiliary spiritual items all affect its outcome. 157 198 336

After forming a Core, cultivators still face severe disparities in cultivation speed and future potential. Vast resources are needed to advance beyond the Early Stage, and many Core Formation cultivators remain permanently at the Early or Mid-Stage. 250 376

Core Formation's regional importance varies considerably. In the Seven Kingdoms, a single Core Formation cultivator can anchor a sect or influence an entire country, whereas in Sea Abyss City such cultivators are common and no longer occupy the highest local tier. Preparation

Core Formation requires long-term preparation, particularly for cultivators with low-grade spiritual roots. Essential considerations include:

Heavenly Spirit Root cultivators possess an overwhelming advantage in the early realms. They are said to face no ordinary bottlenecks before Core Formation and, barring accidents, are generally capable of forming at least a High-grade Golden Core. 267

Exceptional spirit bodies can likewise shift the main concern from whether a cultivator will succeed to the quality of the Core produced. With the Sword Servant's Heavenly Spirit Sword Body, abundant mana, firm will, and resolved immediate bloodline problems, Lin Chang'an considered her success highly likely and concentrated on improving her Core grade. Core Formation phenomena can be particularly dangerous because they draw the attention of hostile cultivators and demonic beasts. When three cultivators attempted Core Formation in Celestial Mystery City, the vast converging spiritual energy attracted three third-order demonic beasts, while rival Core Formation cultivators attempted to break the Mountain Protection Formation and disrupt the breakthroughs. 163

Spirit beasts can also undergo an analogous advancement to the third order by forming demon cores. Their breakthrough phenomena contain Demon Sha Qi and differ from those of human cultivators. 290

For human-monster hybrids, Core Formation can coincide with a bloodline awakening. During the Sword Servant's breakthrough, Lin Chang'an intervened to suppress and purify the disturbance; she awakened lightning power and achieved greater fusion between her bloodlines, although their incompatibility was not completely resolved. 338 339

Stabilization

A newly formed Core must be stabilized. Excessive emotional disturbance immediately after success may adversely affect the cultivator's realm. 338

The distinction between excellent and top-grade items is significant. Access to Core Formation Spirit Items is tightly controlled. Azure Sea Palace prioritizes its internal cultivators, while outsiders may obtain access by joining the palace or accepting commissions such as hunting monsters or Cultivator Bandits. Even the Sixth Elder's guarantee did not give Lin Chang'an unrestricted access to top-grade breakthrough items, which were generally reserved for merit, close ties, or auctions. 196 332

The scarcity of these resources encourages theft and political manipulation. Rong Qing secretly used Cultivator Bandits to accumulate resources for his own Core Formation, and one of his subordinates attempted to steal Lin Chang'an's Mystic Water Liquid. 219

Methods and Conditions

Three-Turn Core Condensation Art

The Three-Turn Core Condensation Art is a technique used to increase the chance of Core Formation. Lin Chang'an calculated that completing its three turns, together with Demon Cores and Core Formation Spirit Items, substantially raised his prospects despite his low-grade spiritual root. 192 243

The art requires third-tier Demon Cores, creating a significant resource obstacle for Foundation Establishment cultivators. Lin Chang'an preferred purchasing them if possible, while preparing formations and Talisman Treasures as alternatives for hunting beasts of a higher realm. 177

Before his original breakthrough, Lin Chang'an prepared two Third-tier Low-grade Demon Cores and one Third-tier Mid-grade Demon Core. He estimated that the art and these cores added at least forty percent to his prospects; together with his refined foundation and four Core Formation Spirit Items, he calculated a ninety-eight percent success rate. This was his personal assessment of his preparations rather than a universal success rate for the technique. 243

Core Transformation

A cultivator who forms a lower-grade Golden Core may seek to improve it through a Core Transformation. Lin Chang'an planned to use the Core Dissolution Secret Technique together with Mysterious Black Qi to stabilize, reshape, and raise the quality of his Golden Core while improving his spiritual-root aptitude. 265 270

The technique dissolves the existing Golden Core into liquid mana and then rapidly reforms it. The dissolved mana retains exceptionally high quality, offering a basis for condensing a better Core, but dissolution and reshaping are the two most dangerous steps. Lin Chang'an initially preferred the safer Spirit-Supplementing Pill to dissolution and recultivation. After discovering the Black Qi's stabilizing properties, he reconsidered the technique, collected Mystic Water Liquid and Yin Spirit Demon Cores, and refined two high-quality Crystal Condensation Pills. In the Spirit Realm's denser spiritual environment, Core Formation phenomena are less extravagant but more solid, and cultivators can focus more directly on condensation; the success rate is consequently higher. 605

Array barriers can conceal a cultivator's breakthrough aura and allow a prepared cultivator to delay revealing their success until hostile parties have lost their chance to interfere. 605

Ancient cultivators were likewise said to achieve Core Formation without auxiliary spirit items because spiritual energy was more abundant. Cultivation attributes can also influence the process. Wood- and Water-Attribute techniques favor steady accumulation and offer an advantage in overcoming bottlenecks, although their ordinary offensive power is comparatively weaker. Longevity-oriented techniques can also prolong the period before age-related deterioration becomes decisive. 208 376

Heart-Mind Unity

Zhao Lingyue and Zhao Lingxing used a heart-mind unity secret method to attempt Core Formation together. Their coordination provided an advantage comparable to that enjoyed by an Earth-grade Spiritual Root cultivator, but bound their outcomes together: success benefited both, while failure endangered both. 376

Body-Cultivation Counterpart

A body cultivator's Core Formation-level advancement is a qualitative transformation of flesh, bones, tendons, and organs.
