Departing from Planet Frieza No. 79.
Vegeta promoted three key members of the management team.
The leader was naturally Zarck; Vegeta had great use for this guy in the future.
Of the other two, one was named Mirei, a researcher in high-end technology who specialized in the development of spacecraft.
The other was an expert in weapons and equipment research; the current new-model scouters and combat suits were partly his handiwork.
Beyond that, Vegeta also dangled a bit of temptation before two of the guard squad leaders.
Making them obedient was simple: with combat powers exceeding one thousand, they needed someone to lead them if they wanted to advance further.
Vegeta's implication was that Nappa and Raditz, who had been by his side, were both dead; if these two performed well and maintained the current situation at the base, they would have the hope of joining him on future expeditions.
Such a promise undoubtedly made the vast majority of people green with envy.
If they could, who would want to guard this godforsaken planetary outpost? Who wouldn't want to get out?
At the base launch pad.
The senior management, led by the few at the top, saw Vegeta off, and the atmosphere quickly turned cold.
Once Vegeta left, the place returned to its old ways of intrigue and deceit.
Without an overwhelmingly powerful superior to keep them in check, everyone's authority naturally returned, and who would be willing to easily submit to another?
Vegeta had anticipated this, which was why he had given those two guard squad leaders a verbal promise—at least to give them a glimpse of a brighter future so they could truly follow his orders.
When all was said and done, strength was the only truth!
With them there, no major trouble would arise.
"Do you think we should report what happened to our superiors? After all, Cui is dead."
"If you want to report it, go ahead. I think it's fine as it is; nobody is bossing us around."
"That's right. Among those present, who hasn't been insulted or lectured by that bastard Cui in the past? I think it's good that he's dead."
"But what if someone from above comes down to investigate later? Dodoria and Zarbon's direct subordinates were all wiped out by Vegeta."
"You said it yourself, Vegeta wiped them out. What does that have to do with us? We were just too afraid to speak up."
"Even if we have to report it, we should wait two days. Once Vegeta is far away, even if he finds out we reported it, he won't turn back."
"True. I actually think we could report it in the form of a work update, downplaying the severity. What do you think?"
The management team exchanged words back and forth.
Their conversation was being noted down in a small book by the two guard squad leaders.
They wanted to perform well and earn Vegeta's favor.
"Hmph! Lord Vegeta was right. As soon as he left, these guys started getting restless!"
"Utterly stupid. They think that just because Lord Vegeta is gone, they can treat us like air."
"Leave them be for now. Lord Vegeta said that as long as they don't cause any major trouble, let them inflate their egos. He'll settle the score when he returns."
"Mm..."
The two squad leaders stood to the side, muttering in low voices.
Their combat powers were 2,000 and 3,000 respectively.
Thus, they were convinced they could take the places of Raditz and Nappa.
Full of longing for the future, they didn't consider that this was merely a hollow check from Vegeta, nor that Frieza would soon fall and the Frieza Force would no longer be what it once was.
In deep space.
Vegeta no longer traveled in a small spacecraft, but had boarded a medium-sized one with enough room to move around. His destination was, naturally, Planet Namek.
Compared to the small spacecraft, the medium one wasn't much faster, but it had the advantage of allowing for training.
In the past, the warriors who fought for Frieza chose small spacecraft for convenience; they spent their time in space sleeping, and by the time they woke up, they had reached their destination.
But now, Vegeta was unwilling to waste that time.
It would take five days to reach Planet Namek, and these five days were crucial.
The Frieza Force's spacecraft were equipped with gravity devices. Vegeta was somewhat excited to learn this, though no one had ever thought to use such equipment for training, so no one cared about it.
It was mostly used to allow combatants to adapt to a planet's gravity in advance, the better to complete their invasion missions.
Regrettably, the highest gravity the ship could currently simulate was only five times that of Planet Vegeta, which was equivalent to 50 times Earth's gravity.
I have to say, thinking of how that guy Kakarot took only six days to travel from Earth to Planet Namek and used Earth's 100x gravity to reach a combat power of 90,000—it was impossible not to feel envious.
Although he could only achieve 50 times Earth's gravity for now, training under this pressure, combined with the weighted clothing and binding equipment he'd scavenged from the base, meant that with his talent, even if he couldn't match Kakarot's results, he wouldn't be far behind, and his potential would accumulate significantly.
"Regardless, I have seized the initiative! Perhaps by the time you arrive on Planet Namek, Frieza will have already been finished off by me!" Vegeta's lips curled upward slightly.
According to the timeline, his spaceship would arrive on Planet Namek on December 18, Age 762, alongside the ship carrying Bulma, Son Gohan, and Krillin.
Kakarot would also depart for Planet Namek on that same day, meaning at the latest, Kakarot would arrive on Planet Namek by December 24, Age 762.
It could be said that as long as he seized the opportunity, he could fully grow stronger on Planet Namek, and by then, there would be no place left for Kakarot.
Having made his decision, Vegeta configured the various settings of the spaceship before stepping down from the pilot's seat.
He had to adapt to the gravitational environment of Planet Mondra.
It had to be said that fifty times Earth's gravity was no joke; even as he was now, Vegeta nearly stumbled and fell.
"This is the sensation brought about by the suppression of a high-gravity environment. It's no wonder training under such a burden yields such great results." Vegeta grinned, a look of excitement appearing on his face.
The original body had never once considered that training in a gravity-heavy environment could be so effective; otherwise, he likely would have taken action long ago.
Only with pressure can one grow faster!
With that, Vegeta took heavy steps toward the spacious lounge area in the back.
He would spend the next five days here, first thoroughly adapting to this level of gravity without his weighted clothing or restraint gear, and then utilizing the weighted restraints to increase the difficulty of his training.
