Background / History
Vegeta awakens on Planet Frieza No. 79 in Age 762 as the Prince of All Saiyans, while retaining the awareness and foreknowledge of a transmigrator. Rather than follow the original Vegeta's path, he kills Cui, recognizes the value of capable subordinates, and uses Zarck's intelligence network to seize control of the base's management. He promotes Zarck, spacecraft researcher Mirei, and a weapons-and-equipment expert before departing for Namek. 1 4 5
During the journey, Vegeta exploits the ship's 50× Earth-gravity device, weighted clothing, and restraint gear to accelerate his growth. On Namek, he seeks Grand Elder Guru's potential-unlocking ritual rather than coercing the Namekians; the ritual raises his combat power to 2.5 million and brings him closer to unlocking Saiyan bloodline power. He later kills Dodoria and Zarbon, fights Frieza's forces, and becomes a crucial defender of Namek despite the Namekians' distrust. 5 15 16 19 20 27
After Frieza's downfall, Vegeta takes control of surviving Frieza Force personnel for their technology and administrative value. He pursues Dragon Ball wishes, trains under increasingly extreme gravity, works with Bulma on spacecraft and gravity-machine development, and travels to Yardrat to study its specialized techniques. 44 50 69 77
Vegeta later intervenes in alternate timelines threatened by Cell, Dark Power, and Majin Buu. His time travel exposes him to stronger versions of Son Goku, Vegeta, and Vegito, giving him opportunities to break through Super Saiyan 2, Super Saiyan 3, Super Saiyan God, Super Saiyan Blue, and advanced bloodline transformations. He also alters an earlier timeline by training Raditz, Nappa, Kakarot, Piccolo, and his past counterpart. 110 121 147 152 155
Appearance
Vegeta commonly wears a Frieza Force-style battle suit, which he values for its comfort, temperature regulation, flexibility, and defensive strength. 1
- Battle suit — Standard-issue Frieza Force armor designed for combat movement and protection. 1
- Super Saiyan appearance — Golden hair and eyebrows, emerald-green eyes, and a golden aura. 23
- Super Saiyan 3 appearance — Extremely long golden hair, vanished eyebrows, altered brow structure, and dual-colored eyes. 140
- Super Saiyan God appearance — Red hair and divine ki that ordinary fighters cannot sense. 141
- Super Saiyan Blue appearance — Bright blue hair and azure, star-like godly energy. 147
- Super Saiyan 4: Limit Breakthrough appearance — Black hair turns red as his bloodline power and Godly Power combine. 186
Personality
Vegeta is fiercely ambitious, prideful, and driven by the need to surpass his limits. He treats overwhelming opponents as opportunities rather than reasons to retreat; being suppressed by a stronger Son Goku exhilarates him because intense combat offers a path to breakthrough. 109 110
His ruthlessness is tempered by calculation. He recruits useful personnel instead of discarding them, preserves Frieza Force specialists for their resources, and recognizes that alliances can be more valuable than indiscriminate killing. However, he remains blunt, intimidating, and willing to threaten those who obstruct his plans. 4 30 44
Over time, his rivalry with Son Goku develops into a demanding mentor-rival dynamic. He pushes Kakarot, Piccolo, Raditz, Nappa, Trunks, and others toward greater strength while refusing to let them become complacent. 83 155 163 164
Abilities & Skills
Ki Manipulation and Perception
Vegeta possesses refined ki control, allowing him to sense distant energy signatures, suppress his own presence, project barriers, and unleash extremely powerful blasts.
- Senses Kakarot's Super Saiyan aura from another galaxy. 81
- Deflects an incoming energy blast without moving by using a ki barrier. 61
- His ki perception eventually becomes more useful than a Scouter for tracking enemies. 19
- Uses mental-energy cultivation to observe Planet Namek from a god-like perspective. 21
Saiyan Transformations
Vegeta has developed an unusually broad range of Saiyan forms, from Super Saiyan to Super Saiyan Blue and Super Saiyan 4-derived states.
- Treats base strength as the foundation of all transformations rather than relying solely on transformed power. 28
- Stabilizes Super Saiyan First Grade Full Power into a state with “no leaks and no flaws.” 79
- Reaches Super Saiyan 2 through battle-induced breakthrough and later advances to Super Saiyan 3. 110 119
- Uses Super Saiyan God, Super Saiyan Blue, Super Saiyan 4, and a Limit Breakthrough Dark Power form. 121 147 185 186
Instant Transmission and Space Manipulation
After training on Yardrat, Vegeta develops advanced spatial movement and the Law of Space.
- Uses Instant Transmission independently across planetary and interstellar distances. 81 120
- Perceives spatial fluctuations, allowing him to track opponents even through extreme speed or teleportation. 148
- Folds space to make distant attacks strike directly before his target. 186
- Leaves spatial marks for convenient return travel. 95
Physical Tempering
Vegeta deliberately trains durability alongside combat power, recognizing that greater ki alone is insufficient in high-level combat.
- Endures and trains under gravity ranging from 50× to 500× Earth gravity. 5 96
- Makes physical durability a dedicated training path after observing the limits of Goku's Kaioken-enhanced body. 65
- Uses exhaustion-based mental training under hyper-gravity to purify ki and strengthen his body. 96
Combat-Power Appraisal and Healing
Porunga's wishes grant Vegeta additional utility abilities beyond raw strength.
- Can directly identify another person's combat-power index. 102
- Wishes for the ability to heal others' injuries. 120
Rainbow Egg
Vegeta's strongest known killing technique prior to mastering destruction energy.
- Attacks the soul and spirit rather than only the body. 188
- Is compared by Whis to Beerus's Soul Annihilation. 188
- Its destructive-energy counterpart is erased by Whis, demonstrating the gap between Vegeta's technique and true destruction power. 188
Mine Planting
A close-range feint technique learned from Son Goku's example.
- Plants tiny, nearly invisible ki waves inside an opponent during melee combat. 148
- Detonates the planted energy remotely. 148
- Has limited raw power but is effective for disruption and creating openings. 148
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Frieza Force Scouter — Initially used for tracking the Frieza Force; later becomes largely obsolete because of Vegeta's ki perception. 1 19
- Frieza Force battle suit — Flexible, temperature-regulating, and highly defensive combat armor. 1
- Smart Virtual Glasses — Bulma's Scouter replacement, capable of detecting combat power up to 100 million with claimed accuracy above 90%. 78 82
- Gravity Machines and portable gravity chambers — Core tools of Vegeta's physical training and the training programs he establishes for others. 96 155
- Medium Frieza Force spacecraft — Used for the journey to Namek and adapted to support gravity training. 5
Relationships
- Bulma — Partner and technical collaborator. Bulma helps develop his gravity equipment, spacecraft systems, and Smart Glasses; Vegeta explicitly calls her his queen. 50 78 91
- Son Goku / Kakarot — Rival, sparring partner, and eventual source of mutual growth. Vegeta repeatedly pushes him to advance while warning him against hiding his strength. 83 110 163
- Grand Elder Guru — Potential-unlocking benefactor and uneasy ally. Guru assists Vegeta after judging that his actions have protected Namek. 15 16 27
- Nail — Initially suspicious Namekian opponent; later a fellow combatant whom Vegeta outgrows and occasionally guides. 13 16 164
- Whis — Divine evaluator and instructor. Whis recognizes Vegeta's potential, tests his strength, and introduces him to destruction energy. 185 188
- Future Trunks — Son and trainee. Vegeta guides him across timelines and shares a clear father-son bond with him. 106 149
- Raditz and Nappa — Saiyan subordinates whom Vegeta later trains and encourages to pursue Super Saiyan power. 152 155
- Frieza — Former master and principal enemy on Namek. Vegeta's growth, defection, and Super Saiyan transformation place them on a direct collision course. 6 24 35
- Vegeta of alternate timelines — His counterparts react with envy, bitterness, and eventual determination after witnessing the heights their future self has reached. 120 130 149
