Background

Frieza ruled the Frieza Force as the feared “Universe Emperor.” Planet Frieza No. 79 served as a supply outpost for his soldiers and one of his “back gardens.” His command structure was built on expendable subordinates, absolute power, and competition for advancement. 1 4

He destroyed Planet Vegeta and nearly exterminated the Saiyan race, later maintaining the false claim that the planet had been destroyed by a meteor. The truth was kept secret so Vegeta could remain under Frieza’s control as a plaything. Frieza’s fear of the Super Saiyan legend was a major motive behind the purge. 19 40

On Planet Namek, Frieza sought the Dragon Balls for wishes such as immortality and greater power. He dismissed the Namekians as weak, deployed his forces to locate villages through Scouters, and massacred villages even after obtaining Dragon Balls from compliant elders. 6 15

Appearance

Frieza initially appears in a hover pod, wearing battle armor and presenting himself as a small but regal ruler. His appearance changes drastically with each transformation.

His composure collapses when faced with a threat he cannot dominate. During the battle on Namek, fear, rage, and desperation repeatedly drive him to transform further and finally unleash power he cannot properly control. Battle with Vegeta

Frieza confronts Vegeta near his spaceship, declares his first-form power of 530,000, and fails to intimidate him. As Vegeta overwhelms each stage, Frieza cycles through his second, third, and final forms in an attempt to regain control of the fight. 31 32 35 37 39

In his final form, Frieza initially matches Vegeta more closely by using 100 million combat power. However, Vegeta’s Super Saiyan transformation surpasses him, forcing Frieza to break his final internal barrier and release unstable power. 40 41
