Background / History

Minato commanded Konoha's forces on the Kirigakure front during the Ninja World War. With Konoha's defensive line collapsing, he ordered an immediate counterattack despite the expected casualties, judging that allowing Kirigakure to establish itself in the Land of Fire would create a far worse strategic crisis. 13

He had already developed the Flying Raijin Jutsu beyond Senju Tobirama's original version in both research and combat application. Rather than hoard that knowledge, he gave Murata Qingtan a complete training booklet with personal insights when Qingtan sought to exchange war merits for the technique. 13 14

After Qingtan demonstrated Flying Raijin and eliminated an elite Mist unit, Minato recognized him as a battlefield peer and proposed that they work together to end the war. 17

Destruction of the Mist Encampments

Working with Qingtan as transport and Fugaku as fire support, Minato launches a rapid campaign against Mist positions throughout the Land of Fire. Their team destroys multiple encampments in succession, while Minato's mobility and Qingtan's support enable Konoha to advance without maintaining the same defensive burden. 19
