Background

Zhong Mu lost her mother in childhood and her father at twelve. After her only younger brother left to seek immortality, she assumed control of the family business, expanding the Zhong family's already considerable holdings in Frost City. 74

She chose to marry Ju Hua after noticing him while he worked in Zhong family businesses. She initially admired his appearance, then came to value his steady and composed temperament. 75 While Ju Hua managed the business after their marriage, Zhong Mu continued training to maintain the strength needed to protect the family. 75

Her diligence carried her from Houtian to Xiantian. Later, after saving an old beggar who proved to be a hidden immortal, she received an internal-energy cultivation method and a complete fist-technique inheritance. 75 She shared the inheritance with Ju Hua and eventually became a Zifu cultivator. 76

Unable to accept Ju Hua's mortal lifespan, Zhong Mu left Frost City to acquire medicine that could make him a Xiantian lifeform. She spent ten years enduring poverty, dangerous assignments, and discrimination in East Glory City while gathering Essence Liquid. 77 78

Bao Lian exploited Zhong Mu's hope of joining the East Glory Sect and arranged to sell her.
