Challenge

The people on Earth hadn't just sat around waiting to die. They had begun searching for the source of the ki.

"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!"

In almost an instant, the strongest people on Earth appeared near Li Lin.

The ki was simply too immense. Anyone with even a little understanding of ki could sense it.

The aura Li Lin had released continued to surge, its brilliant light illuminating the land.

"Damn it. I knew it was him!"

Vegeta said with a grim expression.

Before coming, he had already guessed that Li Lin was probably the only one capable of releasing such a powerful aura.

"He's incredible. That ki is so immense that I'd never believe it if I weren't feeling it myself!"

Piccolo said gravely.

He couldn't imagine how the man before him had trained to become so powerful.

Krillin sensed the aura. Though he was visibly shocked, he was even more excited. "Li Lin is amazing! This ki is so powerful, I've never felt anything like it. With Goku too, we should be able to handle the Androids when they show up!"

Tien Shinhan, Yamcha, and the others silently nodded.

That meant Earth might actually be saved.

After all, Li Lin had personally promised that he would do everything he could when the Androids appeared.

"Bastard!"

Just as Krillin finished speaking, an angry roar rang out.

It was Vegeta. His face was twisted with fury as he suddenly charged over and grabbed Krillin by the collar!

"What did you just say?"

Krillin stared at the furious Vegeta, completely baffled.

I don't think I did anything to offend him. What's his problem?

"I-I didn't say anything!"

Krillin stammered.

"Hmph!" Vegeta snorted and snapped, "Didn't say anything? I heard what you said. You completely disregarded me, the prince!"

Krillin was nearly in tears under the interrogation.

He cursed silently. How did I disregard you?

Is this guy crazy? Did training make him stupid?

But those were thoughts he could never say aloud.

"I-I didn't!"

Krillin stared at Vegeta, stunned.

"You didn't?" Vegeta clearly wasn't going to let him off. He continued angrily, "I'm telling you, the Androids will be defeated, but I'll be the one to take them down! Do you understand?"

Vegeta was practically spitting as he spoke. The more worked up he got, the more the veins in his neck bulged.

Krillin endured the spray of spit, finally understanding.

So that's what he was upset about. What an unreasonable guy!

With the difference in their strength in mind, Krillin could only nod frantically.

"Hmph!"

Vegeta snorted and released him.

He folded his arms across his chest and coldly turned his gaze toward Li Lin.

"Huff, huff."

With the pressure off him, Krillin collapsed to the ground and gasped for breath.

He'd only been telling the truth, and he'd nearly been killed for it!

He resolved to keep his distance from this touchy guy from now on. Otherwise, he might end up dead one day without even knowing why.

Piccolo watched coldly without saying anything.

Tien Shinhan and Yamcha were furious at Vegeta's behavior, but they didn't dare say a word.

Son Goku, meanwhile, was captivated by the aura Li Lin had released. He hadn't even noticed what was happening beside him.

All he could feel was the blood surging through his body, as if it might burst out at any moment.

"Li Lin... Li Lin... He's so strong. He's really strong."

Son Goku watched with shining eyes, as if he were gazing at a beautiful woman.

Time passed, second by second.

At last, Li Lin's aura reached its peak in an instant.

Then a sudden "whoosh" sounded through the air.

The immense aura that had spread across the entire Earth abruptly vanished.

The white light covering Li Lin disappeared in an instant. He slowly opened his eyes and murmured to himself, "So this is sensing ki? It's amazing."

He could finally control his own power as he pleased.

And even with his eyes closed, he could sense the slightest movement nearby.

When Son Goku saw that Li Lin had finally finished, he was like a starving wolf, ready to pounce.

But before he could move, someone else got there first.

Li Lin looked with interest at the person who had suddenly dashed in front of him, curious about what he wanted.

"Hey!" Vegeta stared hard at Li Lin and pointed at him as he shouted, "I didn't expect you to be this strong. Do you dare fight me?"

The onlookers watched Vegeta challenge Li Lin and slowly shook their heads.

It was obvious they didn't think the two were anywhere near the same level.

Before Li Lin could answer, Son Goku objected. "Hey, Vegeta, you're being really sneaky! I'm the one who's supposed to fight Li Lin. Could you step aside for a moment?"

The onlookers silently nodded when they heard Son Goku.

They thought those two were a better match for each other.

Someone like Vegeta would probably just get beaten up!

"Shut up, Kakarot!"

Vegeta swept a hand through the air and refused to back down.

He kept his eyes fixed on Li Lin, with no intention of turning around to argue!

Li Lin watched the scene and chuckled, rubbing his nose.

Vegeta seemed like a decent sparring partner. His enthusiasm for fighting was no less than Son Goku's.

Unfortunately, he was still a little weak and hadn't even reached the Super Saiyan level.

Even if Li Lin fought him, it probably wouldn't do much to help him improve.

"Vegeta, you should go back and train for now. You're not my match yet." Li Lin spoke slowly, then paused before continuing, "How about we fight after you've transformed into a Super Saiyan?"

He was saying this with Vegeta's safety in mind.

After all, his combat experience was sorely lacking. If he failed to control his strength, he might kill the man, and that wouldn't be good.

Just like with Frieza and his son: Li Lin had only been imitating one of their techniques, but he hadn't expected it to be so powerful. He'd taken them out in one blow.

Even though he had now learned how to use ki, he still needed time to get used to it.

"Yeah, Vegeta! You should watch from the side for now. You can fight Li Lin once you're able to transform into a Super Saiyan."

Son Goku frowned slightly and chimed in, trying to persuade him.

He understood Vegeta's desire to fight, but this would be completely pointless.

The ki within Li Lin was simply too overwhelming. Even if Son Goku went all out, he might not be able to withstand a single blow from him!
