"Goten, didn't Brother Gohan tell us not to transform? Why are you doing it?" Trunks asked, hands on his hips.
Son Goten wore an enigmatic smile. "Trunks, you should transform too. Wouldn't it be much more fun to fight this way?"
"You're right."
Trunks gave a slight nod, and his lavender bob-cut hair spiked up as he tapped into his power to transform.
"Wow, Trunks can go Super Saiyan too?" Son Goku felt like he'd been hit by a truck. Damn it, every single one of these kids is a Super Saiyan. How are we adults supposed to keep up?
"Just so you know, I won't be holding back, Goten." A triumphant smile curled Trunks' lips.
"Heh, same here," Son Goten said, wiping his nose before dropping into a fighting stance.
Satan stared at the Super Saiyan Son Goten in terror, his legs trembling uncontrollably. He stammered to himself in a voice only he could hear, "It... it really is true! There's no mistake! This brat is that man's son... exactly the same. That guy... he actually has a son."
"Hey, they look so familiar."
"Like those blond warriors from seven years ago."
"The ones who ruined Mr. Satan's performance."
The audience didn't bother whispering, and Son Goten heard every word. His expression darkened. Heh, "ruined," huh?
On the stage, Son Goku looked awkward, while Vegeta watched Son Goten with a hint of appreciation, feeling that the boy was very much to his liking.
On the arena floor, Trunks and Son Goten stared at each other in silence, the only sound the roar of their surging energy.
"Whoosh!" x2.
Suddenly, two sharp sonic booms rang out, and the figures of Son Goten and Trunks vanished from their spots.
"Boom!"
They reappeared in the space between their original positions, their elbows locked in a collision. The earth-shattering sound was the result of their impact.
Son Goten's expression was stern as he threw a kick at Trunks, who narrowed his eyes and raised a leg to block the strike.
"Boom!"
Both boys exerted force to shove the other away, retreating several steps to create distance.
"Haa!"
Trunks flicked his small hand, and a yellow energy blast shot out like a cannonball toward Son Goten.
Son Goten pushed off the ground, using the Flight technique to leap into the air and dodge the blast.
"Haa!"
Son Goten raised his hand, firing an energy sphere toward Trunks.
"Bam!"
Trunks swatted the energy ball away with a flick of his hand, then kicked off the ground, launching himself like a projectile toward Son Goten with a flurry of phantom-like punches.
"Boom!"
The two became blurs, clashing violently in the air. Every collision sent ripples through the atmosphere.
The audience had forgotten to whisper; they watched the fight with mouths agape, stunned. Damn it, is this really a kid's fight? They were practically ready to kneel on the ground to watch.
"Those two little guys are pretty strong," Son Goku commented with his arms crossed, though a flicker of battle intent shone in his eyes.
"Yeah, they are."
"Boom!"
The two separated, tumbling through the air before landing, looking a bit disheveled.
After the Broly incident, both had seen significant improvements in their strength, nearly reaching the level Son Goku and Vegeta were at seven years ago. They were evenly matched, though that was assuming Son Goten didn't tap into Super Saiyan 2.
"Too... too amazing."
"Unbelievable."
"How are they flying in the sky?"
"Is this some kind of special effect?"
A director wearing glasses shouted at his cameraman, "Hey, don't we have a single working camera?"
"The backups are all broken, sir. It's the same for the other stations, and even the cameras and phones the audience brought. It's incredible," the cameraman said, looking at his equipment with a pained expression.
"How could this happen? We can't even film such a spectacular fight. Damn it!" the director cursed in frustration.
Truly impressive. Son Goku and the others are just too incredible. This is exactly why I've been looking forward to them for so long. Their presence is what makes this the true World Martial Arts Tournament.
The blond referee clenched his fists in excitement. It had to be said, after presiding over several tournaments featuring Son Goku and his friends, his standards had become quite high.
"Pretty good."
"Heh, you too."
Son Goten and Trunks locked eyes, both sharing a knowing smile.
"Well then, I'll have to use my full power," Trunks said, staring intently at Son Goten with a confident grin.
