"Oh! Young Trunks has forfeited, so I hereby declare young Son Goten the champion of the World Martial Arts Tournament's junior division!"
The blond referee was fairly composed. After his initial shock, he quickly regained his bearings. As soon as he saw Trunks forfeit, he announced Son Goten as the champion.
"Wonderful! Goten won!" Chi-Chi cried excitedly, overjoyed.
Bulma was a little dejected. After all, she couldn't help feeling a little sad that her son had lost.
Son Goten returned to normal and glared sourly toward the backstage area—in other words, at Mr. Satan.
"All right, everyone! After that intense match, we have another special event," the blond referee announced. "Now, please welcome the junior division's champion, Son Goten, and the world champion, Mr. Satan, for an exhibition match!"
Mr. Satan nearly wet himself. No wonder Son Goten had been giving him such a strange look. He'd actually forgotten about this!
W-What should I do? Anyone online? This is urgent. Mr. Satan's face was full of terror, snot running from his nose. If he went out there, he was as good as dead!
"Mr. Satan!"
"Mr. Satan!"
"Mr. Satan!"
The audience shouted Mr. Satan's name with wild enthusiasm, as if they'd gone crazy. Anyone who didn't know better might have thought they were completely out of their minds.
But their beloved Mr. Satan was backing away in terror backstage, his body trembling all over.
"That little guy's pretty strong. It won't be easy for Mr. Satan to win without breaking a sweat, will it?" one of the backstage staff teased, adjusting his glasses.
"I-I'll just take it a little seriously," Mr. Satan blustered. He really wouldn't cry until he saw the coffin. Even now, he was still talking big, though the cold sweat on his forehead gave away how he really felt.
"Hahaha, there's no need for that," the staff member teased, seemingly oblivious to Mr. Satan's cold sweat.
"Hahahaha!"
W-What should I do? I-I'm definitely going to die! Mr. Satan panicked. Was there still time to order a coffin?
"Would you like to rest for a bit?" the referee asked Son Goten.
Son Goten gave a calm shake of his head to show that he didn't need to. The referee raised the microphone and called out, "Now, please welcome Mr. Satan to the ring!"
Mr. Satan took one giant step onto the ring and got in the car... Uh, no, I mean, he entered the ring.
Seeing the huge crowd in the stands, Mr. Satan's vanity seemed to overcome his fear. He raised both fists and laughed arrogantly.
"Whoa! Let's see which little guy has dared to challenge the world champion, Mr. Satan!" He then pointed at Son Goten and acted even more cocky. "Heh heh heh, is it you? You're already scared, aren't you?"
Heh. Scared? I sure am terrified.
Son Goten's lips curled into a cold smile, but his head was lowered, so no one saw it.
Mr. Satan noticed Son Goten's grin and broke into a cold sweat. Ah, what should I do? If this is a dream, please let me wake up soon.
"Let's head back."
"The preliminaries should be over by now."
"Oh, right."
Krillin and Son Goku discussed it. There wasn't much left to see, and the outcome was obvious, so they planned to leave.
"Wait! Wasn't Goten here with you? Aren't you going to watch him fight the world champion?" Videl called out, stopping Son Goku and the others as they were about to leave.
"Oh, right. It might be exciting," Son Gohan added, hoping to impress the girl.
"Then we're off."
It didn't make a difference, though. Son Goku kept walking, leaving Son Gohan and Videl awkwardly behind.
Mr. Satan untied his cape and tossed it away with a flourish. He took off his championship belt and replaced it with an ordinary sash. Drawing a deep breath, he let out a loud, "Haaah!" He started with a sweeping kick, then threw a few quick punches into the air. After finishing this flashy routine, he struck a smug V-sign pose for the crowd.
"Mr. Satan!"
"Mr. Satan!"
"Mr. Satan!"
If a few Chinese people had happened to show up, they probably would've been dumbfounded. What the heck, were all these people idiots? They were shouting "Satan" louder than anyone else, like they'd gone crazy for him.
Son Goten watched coldly, as though he were looking at a clown. And that was exactly what Mr. Satan was to him now.
"Whoosh!"
Son Goten transformed directly into a Super Saiyan. Mr. Satan's swagger instantly fell apart, and he rushed over in a panic. "Hey, there's no need to take this so seriously, is there? It's just an exhibition match, a bit of entertainment. Don't take it to heart. Relax!"
"No. I'm going all out," Son Goten said gravely.
Mr. Satan nearly burst into tears. He yelled, "This is just a performance! Don't act like a little kid!"
Son Goten studied his own appearance, then said earnestly, "But I am a kid."
"Why can't you get it? Stop fooling around. You really are a brat," Mr. Satan said, so frantic that snot began running from his nose.
"I am a brat."
Mr. Satan was about to faint. What the heck, would it kill him to show a little consideration?
If Son Goten could read minds, he would surely have sneered, Who do you think you are, Red-Haired Shanks?
