Background / History
Gohan lives a comparatively peaceful life as a student, but grows bored enough to secretly act as the Great Saiyaman. Videl uncovers his identity and compels him to teach her ki control and the Flight Technique in return for keeping the secret. He enters the World Martial Arts Tournament partly because its prize money could help his family. 2 4
Although he defeated Cell seven years earlier, Gohan’s long period without serious training leaves him weaker than before. Training with Goten reveals just how powerful his younger brother has become, prompting Gohan to abandon ordinary drills in favor of sparring. 3 24
When Broly attacks Goten, Trunks, and Videl, Gohan immediately flies to their aid. He saves Videl, confronts Broly as a Super Saiyan, and ultimately joins Goten in a combined Kamehameha that destroys Broly. 5 6 7
Appearance
Gohan is seen in a blue training gi during his sparring sessions with Goten. As the Great Saiyaman, he wears a costumed disguise featuring a turban; once the turban falls off during the tournament, his classmates recognize him. 3 18
- Uses a modified Great Saiyaman helmet to conceal his identity. 2
- Wears a green outer garment and gloves during his battle with Dabura. 25 26
- His Super Saiyan 2 transformation is marked by a powerful golden aura and electrical sparks. 18
Personality
Gohan is kind-hearted and strongly averse to cruelty. The sight of Babidi’s victims disgusts him, and he is enraged when Spopovich brutally injures Videl. 17 20
He is socially awkward, particularly around Videl. Goten’s teasing exposes how flustered Gohan becomes when she gets close, while his attempts to explain ki and cultivation show his inexperience as a teacher. 2 4
Despite recognizing that peace made him weaker, Gohan remains willing to confront threats beyond his current strength. He fights Broly, Dabura, Majin Buu, and later worries that he can no longer meaningfully help Goten against Janembuu. 6 25 35 49
