Vegeta was enraged by Buu's contemptuous gaze. He shot forward like an arrow loosed from a bow, leaving a sonic boom behind him.
"Haah!" Vegeta closed in on Buu and slammed a punch into his stomach. The force of the blow startled Buu, who quickly raised a hand and caught Vegeta's fist.
A smirk curled Vegeta's lips. Before Buu could react, Vegeta swept his leg across and kicked him flying. Buu hurtled away like a kite with its strings cut. Vegeta appeared above him as if teleporting, clasped his hands together, and smashed him into the ground.
"Boom!" The terrifying force of Vegeta's blow cratered the earth, leaving Buu buried in a massive pit.
Vegeta raised one hand and aimed his joined fingers at the crater. "Big Bang Attack!" he roared. In the blink of an eye, a gigantic azure energy sphere formed in his palm, then shot out and plunged into the crater, exploding with terrifying force.
"Boom!"
A world-shaking blast echoed across the land, its rumble lingering as the whole world trembled.
"Whoa, that power really is terrifying." Son Goten patted his chest. Vegeta's strength was nothing to scoff at. Even Son Goten couldn't completely withstand that Big Bang Attack. Vegeta really was frightening. No wonder the guy was so proud of himself—he had good reason to be.
Supreme Kai's jaw dropped. Damn, if they were this powerful, were they going to leave any room for us gods to live? Supreme Kai almost fell to his knees before Vegeta.
"Haha, Dad won!" Trunks shouted excitedly, but then he noticed that everyone else still looked grim—if anything, even more so.
"What's wrong? Could it be that Buu still hasn't been defeated...?" Trunks's face grew very pale as he spoke. He could clearly sense that Buu's ki hadn't weakened at all.
Vegeta stared grimly at the enormous crater hidden beneath the dust cloud. From the start, Buu's ki hadn't weakened in the slightest.
The dust gradually cleared, revealing Buu before them. He looked utterly battered; his body wasn't even intact, with a gaping hole in his stomach and his pants in tatters. He looked like a refugee fleeing disaster, yet he still wore a confident smile.
"That guy... He really is a monster," Vegeta said grimly.
"Gurgle, gurgle." The injured parts of Buu's body squirmed. In the blink of an eye, the damage Vegeta had inflicted healed completely. His body was like a lump of putty.
"Heeheehee." Buu grinned wickedly and appeared in front of Vegeta with a whoosh. While Vegeta was still dazed, Buu kicked him away.
"Ugh!" Vegeta flew backward as if he'd been struck by a speeding train, spitting up bile. He smashed through several stone pillars before crashing into a rock wall.
"Dad!"
"Vegeta!"
Everyone shouted anxiously.
"Thud."
A basketball-sized purple energy sphere formed in Buu's hand. It left his palm and shot forward, striking Vegeta.
"Ah!" Vegeta cried out as the energy sphere hit him. Blood ran from his arms, and he looked utterly battered.
"Don't joke with me! I, Vegeta... am... am..." Veins bulged on Vegeta's forehead, his face twisted with fury. "The prince of the Saiyans!"
Vegeta threw his head back and roared. His aura surged wildly, boiling like water in a pot. Terrifying energy burst forth, sweeping across the battlefield like a gale as the stone wall behind him exploded.
"Vegeta's power has risen again." Son Goku held an arm in front of himself, feeling Vegeta's strength climb to another level.
Damn, was this guy about to transform into Super Saiyan 3? Son Goten crossed his arms in front of himself, cursing inwardly. Was Vegeta really going to achieve a transformation he hadn't managed for years and go Super Saiyan 3 just like that?
The "M" on Vegeta's forehead shone with golden light. His power surged wildly, leaving even Buu stunned. What the hell—was this what Saiyans were like? If so, what was the point of fighting?
"Whoosh." Vegeta didn't transform any further, but his power was comparable to Super Saiyan 3. Son Goku's face showed his shock. If Vegeta had unleashed this during their fight earlier, Goku would have been pinned to the ground and beaten senseless if he hadn't gone Super Saiyan 3.
"This power..." Vegeta stared at his hands in astonishment. This strength, beyond his limits, was like the power he had gained when Babidi controlled him—only now it seemed even greater. In disbelief, Vegeta touched the "M" on his forehead.
"Heh... hehahaha... hahahahaha!" Vegeta began with a quiet chuckle, then laughed loudly, and finally roared with laughter. This new power seemed to restore his confidence. It had surpassed the limits of Super Saiyan 2 and even the strength he'd had moments ago.
"Buu, you'll learn what happens when you underestimate me!" Vegeta pointed at Buu, brimming with confidence. He felt invincible now; even Kakarot wouldn't be able to beat him.
Of course, Vegeta didn't know that Son Goku had another transformation beyond Super Saiyan 2—Super Saiyan 3.
Buu was already thinking about what to do. Vegeta's power really did seem to be surpassing his own now. But Buu didn't know whether Vegeta had any other tricks up his sleeve. Should he absorb him...?
