The Problem with the Body

Genjutsu is essentially a ninjutsu that utilizes chakra and spiritual energy, but Kangetsu currently avoids using his spirit as much as possible because his body simply cannot withstand it. In truth, Kangetsu has no way of imagining just how powerful his spiritual energy—his soul—truly is.

A soul receives a special substance while in the womb and grows slowly from there. The differences in each person's soul determine whether they are clever or a genius in childhood. However, after being struck by that so-called lightning in his previous life, what remained of Kangetsu was the purest of souls. Having grown once more in this life, that soul is now absurdly powerful.

Furthermore, hidden deep within that soul are traces of green lightning that constantly strengthen it, a fact of which Kangetsu is unaware. If he knew, he would surely be relieved, for if he were to use genjutsu and inadvertently trigger that lightning within his soul, this body of his might just be reduced to ash.

For now, however, Kangetsu is focused on constantly strengthening his body; it is the one thing he must do.

At this moment, Kangetsu is enjoying a rare moment of relaxation. Thanks to a sudden clarity of mind, he now only needs to acquire the necessary energy to continue fortifying his physical form, and he no longer fears those states of mental enlightenment. He strolls along slowly, knowing that as long as he continues to kill and grow, one day he will shatter the shackles upon his soul.

At this moment, the three tomoe in Kangetsu's eyes spin continuously as he surveys his surroundings, and he discovers something unexpected.

Kangetsu recognizes this place; it is a river that appeared in the original story.

It is the very river where Uchiha Madara and Senju Hashirama first met.

It is strange, really. Three great clans—the Uchiha, the Senju, and the Hagoromo—surround this river. Despite being hostile toward one another, they all share the same water source. It is almost laughable; if it were Kangetsu, he would simply poison the river, and the other two clans would surely be finished.

But this Warring States Period is like an era of ignorance, where the focus is entirely on fighting openly and killing the enemy directly.

Deception and schemes are not entirely absent, but they are far too rare. It feels as though everyone in this place has a single-track mind.

Take Uchiha Tajima and Senju Butsuma from the original story, for example. In their attempt to kill one another, they actually targeted each other's sons. It is utterly ridiculous—could they not have brought someone else along? After all, if the Uchiha Clan knew about Senju Butsuma, a whole crowd of people would have stepped forward.

Yet, Uchiha Tajima still smiled and said, "It seems, Butsuma, that your plan is the same as mine."

At such talk, Kangetsu can only retch. He truly cannot fathom how their brains are wired.
