The Emperor had arranged everything long ago. Once the mission was over, he would be able to return to the Space Wolves.
Axis immediately thought of another possibility, then glanced at Kaisa, who was standing nearby. She was the one the Emperor had sent.
Seeing Axis turn to look at her, Kaisa smiled and said:
"Axis, once this mission is over, you'll return to the Space Wolves Legion. Your father is here to handle the cleanup afterward."
Wiping the memories of everyone aboard a single ship wasn't enough. The inhabitants of nearby Imperial Worlds, and even some ordinary Imperial troops, would all have to be subjected to the Scouring.
That would ensure no one learned anything about the Second Legion—not even a single scrap of unofficial history.
"So you mean this mission isn't just about destroying the Second Legion?
"The mortal armies under their command, and even the inhabitants of several nearby Imperial Worlds, will all be destroyed?" Axis asked.
Axis immediately realized what this meant. In this shithole of a universe, Chaos was vile, but the Imperium founded by the Emperor was hardly any better.
If he had to compare them, the Imperium founded by the Emperor was the first layer of hell, while the worlds ruled by Chaos were the eighteenth.
For ordinary Imperial citizens, simply staying alive was a luxury, even if they did nothing wrong. And that was only in the 30K era; things were even more fucked up in the terrifying 40K era.
By comparison, there was a reason the Greater Good established by the Tau'va attracted humans and so many Xenos races. It was simply too appealing.
At least ordinary people at the bottom of society had a much better life than ordinary Imperial citizens. Much, much better!
The Tau'va had even managed to create a Tau'va Goddess with the help of humans and other Xenos races. The Tau themselves were a species with little Psykic Power.
So the only reason this goddess could exist at all was the contribution of other races, with humans contributing the most.
That alone proved how much potential the human species had. After accepting a million years of prayer and worship from all humanity, the Emperor had actually become a being who could rival the Four Chaos Gods!
A thought couldn't help but occur to Axis. What if—what if he accepted humanity's prayers and worship? Could he become a Super Saiyan God?
The birth of a Super Saiyan God required five good Saiyans to pour their ki into another Saiyan, creating a god for the entire species.
The requirement didn't seem too demanding, but it was absolutely impossible to fulfill in the Warhammer Universe. Even if he had children with human women,
the Half-Saiyans he fathered wouldn't have ki. Only he had ki, so there was no way he could transform into a Super Saiyan God.
If he followed the pure Super Saiyan path, then Super Saiyan 4 was probably his limit. Even being a Legendary Super Saiyan wouldn't change that.
Legendary Super Saiyans were incredibly rare, but he wasn't Broly from the new movie, who could use Great Ape Power in his human form.
After thirty minutes of fighting, Broly had gone from an ordinary Saiyan to someone who could beat up a Super Saiyan Blue. Axis was a Legendary Super Saiyan, but he wasn't Broly.
At most, he was about as strong as the Demon Saiyan Kale. After all, his Legendary Super Saiyan state was an acquired one.
Super Saiyan power was purely a physical increase in strength, while Divine Power was the most precise way to use ki. It enhanced everything and elevated the entire person.
Perhaps he could give this some thought. Maybe he could become a War God or a God of Destruction?
"That's right! In the Emperor's name, we will exercise the sacred authority granted to us by the Emperor and carry out Exterminatus on the nearby planets.
"But we won't be the ones to do it. Your father, Leman Russ, will." Kaisa said.
Axis had seemed to lose focus just now. Was he thinking about his father, or feeling sorry for the innocent civilians who were about to be wiped out by Exterminatus?
"I understand. Let's go meet my father," Axis said with a nod.
Axis's answer surprised Kaisa. She had thought he might at least try to plead for the ordinary people, but he made no attempt to do so.
He didn't even show the slightest reaction. He simply didn't care that Exterminatus was about to be carried out, even though hundreds of billions of people were about to perish!
And all just to keep a secret. What Kaisa didn't know was that Saiyans didn't care about other people's lives. They had no such overflowing compassion.
Saiyans were born cold-blooded executioners and destroyers. When Axis was four, he had wiped out every species on an entire planet.
"Come on. Let's go meet your father." After saying that, Kaisa went to prepare a Landing Craft to take them to the Space Wolves' Gloriana-class Battleship.
A small Landing Craft launched from the Destroyer and soon reached the Gloriana-class Battleship. It began comparing data files, and once their identities were confirmed, the Gloriana-class Battleship opened its bay doors and let the craft inside.
Meanwhile, at the center of the Gloriana-class Battleship, the Wolf King was with his sons, discussing the plan for carrying out the mission.
Then he suddenly received an order from the Imperium: a squad of Adeptus Custodes would be sent to assist him with the Exterminatus mission.
"Great Wolf Father, does the Allfather not trust us to carry out this mission? He's even sent a squad of Adeptus Custodes as envoys." A Space Wolves company commander looked at Leman Russ and asked.
Ever since their founding, the Space Wolves had served as the Emperor's executioners for more than twenty years, and they had never failed a mission.
But this was their first time carrying out Exterminatus against ordinary citizens of the Imperium, the very subjects of a Primarch.
"Great Wolf Father, do we really have to carry out Exterminatus against unarmed civilians?"
Throughout the Legion, quite a few people objected to the massacre of civilians.
"This situation is different. We're dealing with one of my brothers, after all. The Emperor may be worried I can't handle him, so he's sent some Custodians to help.
"As for Exterminatus, this is a mission the Emperor gave us. We only need to carry it out," Russ said.
Purging a Primarch was no simple task.
And this absolutely couldn't be allowed to get out. Carrying out Exterminatus was unavoidable.
At that moment, the sixteen Custodians followed Axis and Kaisa to the center of the Gloriana-class Battleship.
