To others, Russ appeared as a savage, extreme monster—a beast—but in truth, he was merely a man disguised as one!
Leman Russ was also possessed of immense wisdom!
After Russ disposed of the Second Primarch, how would all the other Primarchs view him?
This matter could be figured out with one's eyes closed; there was even a popular meme about it during the 40K era.
If the Space Wolves came looking for you, it still meant there was a chance for negotiation, but once the Dark Angels arrived, it meant your death was imminent.
Both the Dark Angels and the Space Wolves were tasked with doing the Emperor's dirty work, though the Dark Angels' jobs were filthier, usually involving wars of annihilation.
"What are you talking about? This is a mission the Emperor entrusted to me; my brother is naturally mine to strike down," Russ said.
After the other brothers had returned one by one, Leman Russ had already discovered that his combat talent seemed slightly superior to theirs, and his physical constitution seemed just a little bit stronger as well.
Emperor had already explained the reason: he had undergone the baptism of Axis's Ki, which had significantly enhanced his physical capabilities.
"This is a mission the Emperor entrusted to me. Father, your task is to assist me in purging the Second Legion; the Second Primarch is to be struck down by me," Axis said.
Axis was not joking; he produced a mission order personally signed by the Emperor.
The reason he had been sent was to ensure the Second Primarch was thoroughly and completely eliminated.
Seeing this document personally signed by the Emperor, Russ's expression shifted.
"I understand. You have traveled a long way; rest for now! Tomorrow, we shall go and deal with those traitors! Axis, come with me. It has been a long time since we, father and son, have met," Russ waved his hand.
He ordered several Space Wolves Space Marines to take the Adeptus Custodes and Kaisa away, while Axis was led by Russ into his private quarters.
He needed to have a proper talk with this son of his!
"My little Wolf Cub! You cannot make a move this time. If the other Primarchs find out that it was you who killed their brother, the consequences will not be pleasant," Russ said, looking at Axis.
Axis had a bright future; if news spread that he had killed the Second Primarch, it would not be a good thing for him.
It was even worse than if he had done it himself, because as a Primarch, killing another Primarch was done under the Emperor's orders.
While the other Primarchs might have their grievances, it would not be too severe, but Axis was different.
You are merely one of the Adeptus Custodes; you are not a Primarch. By what right do you stand above a Primarch?
The Primarchs were the most powerful individuals in the entire Empire, save for the Emperor. It was not that he wanted to defy the Emperor's orders, but this matter was too dangerous for Axis and would incite the hostility of all the other Primarchs.
"But this is the Emperor's command. Am I not to obey it?" Axis smiled and asked in return.
It was as if Frieza had issued a command; could a Saiyan refuse to execute it?
To Axis, the Emperor's command was exactly the same as Frieza's.
"I understand! Then you shall be the one to strike down the Second Primarch! I will handle the aftermath for you," Russ said after a moment of silence.
In truth, it was not impossible; he could take the blame for Axis in an alternative way, shifting the hatred of the Primarchs back onto himself.
This mission was strictly confidential. As long as the Space Wolves warriors did not leak it, theoretically, no one would know that Axis had killed the Second Primarch.
Even the Emperor would explain to the other Primarchs that the Second Primarch had gone missing due to the Rangdan Xenocides.
But people were not fools; some things could still be traced through the clues left behind.
And those clues would all point to him. No one would suspect that Axis had killed the Second Primarch; they would only associate it with him.
This was a form of protection for Axis!
Leman Russ even felt that the reason he had been dispatched was specifically to take the fall for Axis—this was the Emperor's intent!
"Alright, Father, let's talk about something else! Do you still have my things?" Axis asked.
Before leaving Russ, he had specifically entrusted the Saibamen seeds and King Vegeta's briefcase to Russ for safekeeping, rather than taking them to Holy Terra.
These items could not be exposed.
"Your things? I have kept them on my person at all times. Wait a moment, I will go get them for you," Russ nodded at Axis.
He turned to his cabinet, opened a safe, and retrieved Axis's belongings from within.
He had kept the items Axis left behind with him at all times. If he was sailing through the void, they were kept in his private quarters aboard his Gloriana-class Battleship.
Upon returning to the planet Fenris, he kept them in his room.
Axis nodded and took the briefcase Russ handed over. Opening it, he saw the Saibamen seeds and King Vegeta's briefcase, both perfectly preserved.
"Axis! What exactly are these green seeds?" Leman Russ asked with some curiosity.
Having kept these things by his side all day, Leman Russ's Psykic Power could clearly sense them.
These green seeds contained an incredibly powerful energy, a type of power he had once sensed within Axis himself.
"These are good things, Father. They are a type of biological weapon called Saibamen, and they possess very formidable combat strength," Axis said.
Saibamen were extremely useful; when high-level Saiyan warriors went out on missions, they often used these creatures.
As long as your strength was sufficient, the Saibamen would never defy your orders, even if you commanded them to commit suicide!
"That really is a terrifying monster! Can you control them?" Leman Russ nodded as he asked.
"I couldn't before, but now I can control them perfectly. These creatures have extremely violent and cruel temperaments.
But they will submit to any existence stronger than them; even if ordered to die, they wouldn't hesitate in the slightest," Axis replied.
"They come from the same place as you, right? Can these Saibamen use Ki?" Russ stroked his chin and asked.
Use Ki! Axis's mouth fell open as he looked at his makeshift father, then down at the Saibamen seeds in his hand.
It seemed, perhaps, maybe, these guys could actually use Ki!
These creatures had come from the Dragon Ball World just like him; since he had retained his Ki, was it possible they had retained theirs as well?
A bold idea instantly took root in Axis's mind.
