Wulfen! There are no wolves on Fenris. It's a very famous meme, and the first person to say it was Lion El'Jonson.
During his conversations with Leman Russ, Lion El'Jonson and his gene-sons discovered the secret of the 6th Legion, the Space Wolves, and declared that there were no wolves on Fenris.
In truth, every Gene-seed had more or less some problems. For example, the Red Thirst suffered by the noble Sons of Sanguinius, and the mutations in Magnus's Thousand Sons Legion.
That was because all the Primarchs came from the Warp, and were more or less infected with its problems. Some were even directly afflicted by curses from the Chaos Gods.
Leman Russ's Gene-seed had serious problems too. In the later Space Wolves, there was even a hidden Wulfen Great Company.
"Dad! You're just telling me this secret?" Axis asked.
"Who else would I tell? I've always thought of you as my son.
Even though you weren't implanted with my Gene-seed, according to Fenrisian tradition, you're my child," Russ said.
Russ trusted his own judgment. Axis would never reveal the Legion's secret.

After all, his own Saibamen were a secret too. All of this had to be kept confidential.

He had told Axis this secret because he wanted Axis to help him solve the Space Wolves Legion's greatest Gene-seed problem.
