The Emperor thought something had gone wrong. By his estimates, Axis and the others should have arrived only a day ago.
Eliminating every Space Marine in the Second Legion and then killing the Second Primarch should have taken Axis at least a dozen days, maybe even longer.
After that, they would still have to carry out Exterminatus. There was no way that task could be completed in less than two months.
So the Emperor thought something had gone awry with the mission. Perhaps the Zaidan Xenos had returned!
"Master of Mankind, I have something to report to you," Kaisa said.
"Kaisa, did something go wrong with the mission? Did you run into any difficulties?" the Emperor asked.
"No, Master of Mankind! We've completed the mission successfully," Kaisa said.
Although the man on the other end was her biological father, she couldn't address him as such. She could only call him the Emperor of Mankind.
Only after she completed the mission entrusted to her by the Emperor and formally regained her identity could she call him Father. Only then would she be the Emperor's daughter. For now, she was merely a sanctioned Psyker.

"The mission is already complete? How is that possible? Did you accelerate through the Warp's currents and reach the target planet ahead of schedule?" the Emperor asked, slightly surprised.
When traveling through the Warp, you might arrive on schedule, or you might arrive years, hundreds of years, or even thousands of years late.
There was also a much smaller chance of arriving early. A voyage that was supposed to take two or three months might take only one month, or even just over ten days.
