"I'll go see those Custodes off," Axis said to Kaisa and Russ.

"Go ahead, Axis! Say goodbye to them, but don't make anyone else suspicious," Russ said.

After all, they had once been comrades. They were parting now, and it might be decades or even centuries before they met again. They deserved a proper farewell.

Axis nodded to Russ and Kaisa, then turned and headed for the vast hangar aboard the Gloriana-class Battleship.

After Axis left, Russ gave the woman standing beside him a meaningful look.

"What is it, Lord Russ? Is something wrong?" Kaisa asked with a smile.

The first time she had met this younger brother, he had still been in his incubation pod! But their mother had been deceived and, together with Kaisa and several others, had exiled these brothers to various parts of the galaxy.

"Your Psykic Power feels familiar to me. When Father found me on Fenris, the Psykic Power he used was very similar to yours," Russ said.

Sending Axis to the hangar wasn't just so he could say goodbye to the Custodes. It was also a way to get him out of the way so Russ could ask about Kaisa's origins.

"The power of Psykers is much the same. Perhaps my Psykic Power just happens to be very similar to the Emperor's," Kaisa replied.

"You're completely different from them. When other Psykers use their power, it feels downright evil to me. I don't like them much, even though the Imperium needs them in every field," Russ said.

Kaisa's Psykic Power didn't shine as brilliantly as the Emperor's, but it was remarkably warm. It lacked the cold, sinister feeling Russ sensed from other Psykers.

"Lord Russ, have you met many Psykers?" Kaisa asked.
