Li Chengyue was once a direct disciple of the Xingyi Sect and the foremost genius of its Golden Pivot Court. He reached Gang Strength at twenty-two and approached the True Essence Realm by thirty, earning the sect’s highest expectations. 76

During a mission with seven junior brothers, Li Chengyue was caught in a prepared death trap involving a True Essence Realm opponent and five peak Gang Strength experts. Shen Yun was killed, while Li Chengyue fought his way out with one other junior brother. He was struck by Bone-Eroding Poison; the damage to his Gang Strength foundation severed his route to the True Essence Realm. 76 89

Disheartened after the ambush, Li Chengyue left the sect and spent the next twenty years in Yilin County, where he established a modest Xingyi martial arts hall. Shen Hao, Golden Pivot Court’s master and Shen Yun’s elder brother, continued to resent him despite knowing that the mission had been an inescapable conspiracy. 76

Before Chen Jianghe’s arrival, Li Chengyue saved the Su family from the Blood Wolf Gang by defeating its second-in-command with three punches. He refused their monetary reward, accepting only a jar of wine and calling the debt settled. 17

Li Chengyue accepted the seventeen-year-old Chen Jianghe into his hall for ten taels of silver, judging his aptitude as merely average and warning that beginning martial training at his age would be difficult. Defense of the Xingyi Hall

Li Chengyue intervened when Zhao Mingyuan, Li Tian, and the Zhao Family moved against Chen Jianghe and the Su Family Escort Agency. He exposed his Gang Strength, crippled Zhao Mingyuan and Li Tian’s cultivation for betraying their master and sect, and publicly warned Yilin County against harming his disciples. 49 50

He then suppressed five Transforming Strength experts from Yilin’s great families with a single spear strike. The victory came at a grave cost: he returned to the hall supported by his spear, vomited blood, and admitted that he could not safely fight again for some time. 50 52

Li Chengyue is a gaunt, withered man with graying hair and an outwardly unkempt, alcohol-soaked demeanor.
