Background / History

Twenty years before Chen Jianghe’s rise, Li Chengyue and six fellow disciples encountered a Demonic Sect gathering while descending the mountain. After breaking out, they were attacked by another force; five disciples died, one was crippled, and Li Chengyue escaped while protecting a surviving junior brother. The assailant used martial arts inherited from the Shenxing Sect. Han later admits that he was powerless to change the outcome and regards the incident as a debt Xingyi Sect owes Li Chengyue. 133

Han knows of three Xingyi Sect cultivators who attempted to cultivate the internal arts of all five courts. Two died when the five elements clashed during their True Essence breakthroughs; the third, Gu Changqing, survived only by crippling his Metal and Water arts and remained stranded at Gang Force Peak. 146
