"Nutrient porridge is also one of the rations, usually available in twelve flavors. But I think they'll definitely release more flavors in the future. It was designed for easy consumption, because battlefield conditions are harsh, so most soldiers choose to eat it."
Fulgrim stopped speaking and looked down at Konrad Curze. The latter was currently sitting with his head lowered in an obvious state of distraction. Though he still held a pen in his right hand, the line of text in his notebook had not moved for quite some time.
The Chemosian sighed.
"Konrad."
"...Huh?!" The pale giant abruptly raised his head. "What is it?!"
"Have you been listening to my lesson?"
"...Sorry, Fulg."
"It's fine." Fulgrim smiled gently. "But I need to remind you of something: Karyl doesn't need you to worry about him."
"...I wasn't worried about him."
"Really?"
"Really."
"Look me in the eyes when you say that."
Konrad Curze reluctantly raised his head. He met Fulgrim's gaze for less than a second before immediately looking away.
The Chemosian smiled silently and nodded. "So you really were worried about him."
"...All right, maybe a little."
"He doesn't need your concern, Konrad. You should worry about your own progress first. I've prepared some assessments for you. If you fail them, what will Karyl think?"
"But—"
Curze raised his head. Though his expression remained calm, a clear complexity flickered in his pitch-black eyes.
"—I want to know what he's doing right now."
He was busy killing people right now, Konrad.
Fulgrim sighed inwardly but did not say it aloud. There were things hidden behind those words, and so he would not tell Konrad Curze. After all, even a Primarch only one and a half years old was still a Primarch.
Besides, Konrad was indeed exceptionally perceptive in certain matters.
