On a lifeless brown planet, huge craters stretched across the entire surface.
A semicircular barrier surrounded one of the craters. Inside it stood a massive arena, covering a full five hundred square meters.
On either side of the arena stood a huge sign—or rather, a mirror. Each mirror displayed a picture of Beerus and Champa...
Champa, Vados, and the others had already gathered at the venue, along with their six contestants. One of them was the referee.
"They still haven't arrived?" Champa asked impatiently.
Vados smiled softly. "They're here now."
"Oh?" Champa turned to look in one direction.
Whoosh!
Beerus and the others appeared at the venue.
The moment they arrived, everyone was astonished—not by the venue, but by the enormous glowing spheres surrounding the planet. They shone with golden light, and each contained six stars arranged in a specific order.
They were just like gigantic Dragon Balls!
"Th-this is... could these be the Super Dragon Balls? They're enormous!" Bulma stared in amazement. She'd never imagined Dragon Balls could grow this large.
Everyone nodded in agreement. They were all stunned; they'd never seen Dragon Balls like these before.
"These are the real Dragon Balls. They're on a universal scale. The Dragon Balls on your Earth were made from fragments of the Super Dragon Balls, but they're nowhere near as powerful," Beerus explained calmly.
"Wow! Is this where we're going to fight?" Goku asked excitedly.
"I'm a little confused. How can we breathe here? Can't we only live on Earth?" Krillin asked.
"Vados has surrounded this place with divine power, so you don't need to worry," Whis replied with a slight smile.
Beerus looked at Champa. "I didn't expect you to find this place for the competition. Interesting."
As he spoke, Beerus glanced at the Super Dragon Balls around them, then smiled with his eyes closed. "I didn't expect you to find so many Super Dragon Balls. I'm impressed."
"Hmph! It took me a long time to find them," Champa said coolly. "So you can imagine how seriously I'm taking this battle!"
"But I'm wondering—did you take the Super Dragon Balls from Universe 7?" Beerus asked Champa with a teasing smile.
"Uh... well..." Champa looked a little embarrassed.
"Enough talk. They're ours either way. Are all your fighters here?" Beerus asked flatly.
Champa snorted, then nodded smugly. "Of course!"
He stepped aside, revealing their contestants.
A scrawny young man, a pitch-black robot, a huge Golden Bear, a purple alien in a cloak—and one who looked remarkably like Frieza!
"That guy... is that Frieza?!" Krillin and the others exclaimed, their faces turning grave.
Goku and Vegeta also grew serious. It seemed they still didn't know enough about this parallel universe!
Luya gave the Universe 6 group a casual glance, then fixed his eyes on Hit, a glint in his gaze.
There was no doubt about it: Hit was the strongest person here!
"Hmph! Frieza? He's a champion of justice in Universe 6. He even won the Excellent Justice and Peace Award!" Champa declared proudly.
"What?! A peace award?!"
Everyone stared at him in disbelief.
What the hell? Was this a joke? How could Frieza possibly be a good guy? Evil incarnate was more like it!
In Universe 7, Frieza was known as the Evil Emperor!
"Hello, everyone. My name is Frost. I'm the captain of the Universe Patrol in Universe 6!" said the man who looked like Frieza as he walked over and greeted them warmly.
Krillin and the others exchanged uncertain looks. Frieza had left such a strong impression on them that Frost's friendly manner only made them more uneasy. They didn't know how to respond to his warmth.
"Hey! Nice to meet you! I'm Goku. There's someone in our universe who looks a lot like you, but he's a bad guy—not someone with a good reputation like you," Goku said with a grin.
Frost smiled. "I understand."
"All right, let's get started. The sooner we finish, the better," Beerus said impatiently.
Champa stepped forward. "Good! In that case, let's begin! This competition will have two events. First, a written test to see who knows more. Then, a martial arts match to see who's stronger!"
Beerus furrowed his brow. "There's a written test too?"
"Of course! This is a contest between our two universes. Naturally, we have to test our knowledge!"
Beerus looked impatient. "What a hassle. Fine, let's get on with it!"
"For the martial arts match, he'll be the referee," Champa announced.
An alien who looked like a bean sprout stepped forward.
Beerus glanced at him, then nodded. "Then let's begin!"
Soon, the contestants from both sides sat at a table. A blank sheet of paper lay in front of each of them.
"This written test is multiple choice. There are ten questions on the paper. Whoever gets at least five right wins," Vados said with a gentle smile.
Everyone looked serious as they picked up the sheets of paper in front of them. One glance left them puzzled.
What the hell? These were all questions about food? What idiot came up with such childish questions?
Achoo!!
Suddenly, Beerus and Champa sneezed at the same time!
Then they both looked at each other and asked in unison, "Did you just insult me?!"
The two of them: "..."
Whis: "..."
Vados: "..."
"Hmph! A childish test like this could never stump me!" Vegeta was clearly impatient. He immediately picked up his pen and started writing. He was Bulma's husband, after all—he'd experienced every luxury a wealthy family could offer.
"BEEP!!! Contestant, you're disqualified!" Just as Vegeta put pen to paper, Vados somehow produced a whistle and blew it right beside him, startling him.
The others, who'd been stumped by the questions, all turned to look.
"Hey! What do you mean?! Why are you disqualifying me?!" Vegeta protested angrily.
Vados smiled gently. "Well... I hadn't said 'Begin' yet, and you already started answering. According to the rules, that counts as cheating..."
Vegeta: "..."
