Over a hundred kilometers southwest of Mount Paozu, on a desolate plain riddled with craters, the brothers Goku and Wuchen faced each other from a distance. They struck identical poses as their auras steadily rose and gradually converged!
"Ka!"
"Me!"
"Ha!"
"Me!"
Both brothers held their hands out like claws, facing each other and channeling the "ki" within them. Once it had gathered, they fired!
Two blue beams shot toward each other, each pushing a ball of light ahead of it. They collided head-on, pressing together into one enormous sphere!
Bolstered by the two beams, the sphere steadily expanded until it could no longer hold together!
The sphere exploded with a thunderous roar! Its dazzling light instantly covered the heavens and earth, draining all color from the world!
As the light faded, another crater had appeared on the plain, much larger than the one before!
Yes, both brothers knew the Kamehameha!
Just as Goku and Krillin seemed fated to become friends, Master Roshi and Wuchen were unlikely friends of different generations.
Though they disagreed on matters between men and women, Wuchen and Master Roshi got along famously and often chatted.
Wuchen shared the cultivation theory he had "figured out himself," while Master Roshi explained everything he knew about "ki" without reservation. They discussed the Kamehameha and several other techniques, too.
Now, half a year had passed since they successfully made the pills.
Goku had not only learned the Kamehameha, but had also mastered it to a remarkable degree. Its power was extraordinary!
Three months ago, they had begun regularly sparring with ki attacks at Wuchen's request.
The sparring plan had been devised to test whether the brothers' bodies could unlock their potential under great pressure.
That had been confirmed. During battle, and even afterward—especially after recovering from severe injuries—the brothers' strength increased significantly, along with their total reserves of "ki"! At the same time, the transformation originating at the cellular level grew more pronounced with each recovery.
"Big brother, we've run out of pills. Should we keep fighting?" After taking their last pair of Rejuvenation Pills and Spirit Recovery Pills, Goku walked over to Wuchen.
"No. I've nearly run out, too. I'll save what's left for emergencies. Continuing to improve this way would mean spending a lot of time recovering from injuries. It's not worth it." Wuchen shook his head.
"Besides, our progress has been getting slower and slower lately. I think we should take it easy for a while and consolidate our foundations!" Yes, Wuchen had noticed it, too.
There were limits to improving through recovery from serious injuries. It was like ordinary training, which built up strength over time. Severe injuries were merely the catalyst, drawing out that potential as the body healed.
"Then should we head back now?" Goku rubbed his belly. He was getting pretty hungry.
"Let's go back and get ready. We'll pay Master Roshi a visit."
With that, the brothers took off, flying toward Mount Paozu as fast as jet planes.
"I can sense Master Roshi and Krillin, as well as Bulma and Yamcha!" The two paused in the sky above Mount Paozu, then immediately descended.
"You're finally back!" It really was them—and it seemed they had been waiting for the brothers for quite some time.
"Master Roshi, Krillin, Bulma, Yamcha—you're all here. What brings you?" Seeing everyone gathered there, the brothers were at a loss.
"You two said you'd come find us in three to five months at the latest. But it looks like you still haven't gotten around to it." Master Roshi stepped forward and looked the brothers over carefully, his eyes gleaming.
Wuchen felt a little awkward. He'd been so focused on improving his strength that he'd completely forgotten their promise.
"Goku, Wuchen, what's the matter with you two? You didn't even go to the World Martial Arts Tournament!" Fortunately, Yamcha spoke up at just the right moment to smooth things over.
Yes, Yamcha, Bulma, Oolong, and Puar had joined Master Roshi and Krillin because they had all gone to the World Martial Arts Tournament. Krillin and Yamcha had even entered, taking first and second place.
Afterward, they had all come straight here together.
"The World Martial Arts Tournament?" Naturally, the brothers were both bewildered. They hadn't even heard about it.
"You can't be serious! You and Goku didn't know about the World Martial Arts Tournament?" Even Krillin couldn't sit still now. How could someone as strong as his senior brother not know about a tournament where the world's best martial artists gathered to test their skills?
Yamcha chimed in, too. "Exactly! It's a gathering of martial artists from all over the world. How could you two brothers not know about it?"
After that, Krillin and Yamcha took turns filling Goku and Wuchen in.
Once he learned the details, Goku was deeply disappointed. He'd missed the chance to spar with the world's top fighters.
Wuchen didn't think much of it. Instead, he invited everyone inside and served them tea. Then he and Goku began preparing a meal for their guests.
"This tea is delicious~" It wasn't ordinary tea, of course. For more than half a year, the brothers had trained every day and cultivated quite a few spirit plants, including a tea tree they had specially transplanted.
"Come to think of it, the fruits and vegetables you gave me last time were special, too." Bulma couldn't help remembering the package the brothers had sent her a year ago. It had contained the fruits and vegetables she'd tasted when she first met Wuchen and Goku.
"Mm, it's delicious. I feel like my head's gotten a lot clearer, too. But, Bulma, what fruits and vegetables are you talking about? We don't know anything about that." Yamcha was just as surprised by the tea, but it seemed he'd overheard one of Bulma's secrets.
"Hmph!" Bulma gave a little huff. The fruits and vegetables were her beauty secret; she wasn't about to tell everyone about them.
Master Roshi and Krillin, though, were astounded. The tea contained an astonishing amount of spiritual energy. They could only imagine that Goku and Wuchen had reached an incredible level of skill. The spiritual energy generated by their training must be even more concentrated!
Since Goku and Wuchen had left, the two of them had also trained hard every day and made considerable breakthroughs. They had thought they'd closed the gap, but now it seemed it had only grown wider.
Before long, Goku and Wuchen had finished preparing the meal.
Among all the dishes, a pot of specially prepared chicken soup stunned everyone as soon as it was brought to the table!
Just the aroma alone captivated them all, making them feel as though their souls were floating away.
Yes, this wasn't an ordinary chicken, either. It had been raised free-range at the brothers' current training grounds, fed spirit insects nourished by spiritual energy. It had grown beneath the same spiritual energy, so naturally, it had transformed as well.
Simmered with special spirit herbs and roots, it could do more than improve one's complexion—it could even prolong one's life.
Of course, the chicken soup wasn't the only extraordinary dish. None of the others were ordinary, either.
"Everyone, please eat."
"Let's dig in!"
"I won't hold back, either!"
