Language Proficiency!
What a timely blessing. Li Shu thanked the heavens; if he had to learn Japanese from scratch, he likely wouldn't master it in this lifetime. Since he couldn't die, he simply wouldn't be able to learn it.
However, the voice in his mind had not finished.
"Achievement Unlocked: 'I Starve Myself'. Possessing an Undying Body, you actually nearly starved to death. You are the first person in history to achieve this. Congratulations on obtaining the reward [Ki Sense], Achievement Points +1."
Hmm?
Li Shu was overjoyed. Just as he had expected, everything was within his calculations. That's right, he had intentionally tried to starve himself to death, using his own life to test the system's temperament.
"Young man, why are you here all by yourself?" Son Gohan asked.
How should he explain this? Li Shu felt a bit numb. His brain whirred at high speed as he said, "I'm lost."
Son Gohan smiled. "It's dangerous for you to be in the mountains alone. Why not come stay at my home for a while? Do you have any way to contact your family?"
"No, I'm an orphan." Li Shu shook his head.
"Poor child." Son Gohan instinctively glanced at Son Goku, who was currently eyeing Li Shu with curiosity.
Like Li Shu, Son Goku was also an orphan, a poor child he had picked up in the mountains.
"Is this Mount Paozu?" On the way home, Li Shu decided to confirm the location.
"Mount Paozu, it's Mount Paozu, though it's a pity you can't eat it," Son Goku quickly replied.
Son Goku looked at Li Shu's backside and asked curiously, "Why don't you have a tail either?"
Looking at the innocent Son Goku, Li Shu recalled a plot point: on a full moon night, Son Goku transformed into a Great Ape and trampled his grandfather, Son Gohan, who had raised him for years, to death.
This was an innate ability of the Saiyan Bloodline. Whenever they saw a full moon, they would transform into a Great Ape, becoming incredibly fierce. Young Son Goku could not yet control this power, and thus lost his sanity.
However, if the tail were cut off, the transformation could be ended, and a Saiyan without a tail could no longer transform into a Great Ape.
Li Shu wanted to prevent this tragedy from happening, so he said, "I had my tail cut off."
"Ah? Why?" Son Goku's eyes widened.
Son Gohan looked at Li Shu in surprise. Could it be that this young man was born with a tail just like Son Goku?
Li Shu explained, "Because it is our weakness."
As he spoke, Li Shu grabbed Son Goku's tail. Son Goku's pupils instantly constricted, his entire body went numb, and he collapsed to the ground with a thud, feeling completely powerless.
Son Gohan watched this scene in shock, finding it hard to believe.
"See? I wasn't wrong, was I?" Li Shu let go, and Son Goku regained his strength. He jumped up from the ground in surprise, turning his head to look at the tail nimbly swaying behind him.
He thoughtfully took off his pants and said something shocking: "Then do you have a little 'kun-kun'? Does that need to be cut off too?"
"..." Li Shu's mouth hung slightly open, speechless as he looked at Son Goku's little lychee.
He saw Son Goku reach down and give it a squeeze, but he didn't feel that sense of total powerlessness, so he innocently said, "Big brother, you come squeeze it."
"Alright!" Li Shu suddenly felt a surge of mischievousness. He flicked it with his finger and said, "This one needs to be flicked. Strictly speaking, this is indeed one of our weaknesses, but it is acceptable."
Son Goku scratched his head, not understanding what he meant, and pulled his pants back up.
Son Gohan watched the scene with a chuckle and said, "Young man, I don't know your name yet. Are you from the same place as Goku?"
"My name is Li Shu. I don't know if I'm from the same place as Goku, but I am certainly the same kind of person as him."
Li Shu was about to obtain the [Saiyan Bloodline], so saying he was the same kind of person as Son Goku was no exaggeration; it would make things easier to explain later.
Not long after, Li Shu arrived at Son Goku's home, and the system's voice rang out.
"Check-in at 'Son Goku's Residence' successful. Obtained reward [Saiyan Bloodline]."
"Next check-in location: Unknown. Please look forward to it."
A smile couldn't help but appear on Li Shu's face. With the [Undying Body] and [Saiyan Bloodline], he would basically be invincible in the Dragon Ball world. As for the next check-in reward, it didn't matter; he didn't care if it came or not.
"Wow, big brother, your tail grew back."
Just then, Son Goku looked at Li Shu's backside in amazement.
Li Shu also felt something strange. He looked behind him to see his tail swaying nimbly, moving as easily as an arm, as if he had always had one.
"I forgot to tell you, even if we cut the tail off, it will grow back for no reason."
Seeing this, Son Gohan no longer had any doubts about Li Shu.
"Then should we cut it off?" Son Goku asked.
Cut it off? That would hurt like hell!
The key was that he possessed the [Undying Body]; if he cut it off and it grew back, how could he explain that?
"It's too much trouble. It grows back even if you cut it off. Actually, there are other ways to overcome this weakness," Li Shu quickly shook his head. There was nothing wrong with a double standard.
"What way?"
"Train the tail."
"However, whenever there is a full moon, it is best if we don't look at the moon, otherwise we will undergo a terrifying change."
"Wow, Grandpa told me the same thing," Son Goku nodded ignorantly.
Son Gohan looked at Li Shu in surprise, words catching in his throat.
The last time Son Goku had seen the full moon and transformed into a Great Ape, it had left him terrified; he had nearly died.
He decided that once Goku was asleep that night, he would have a proper talk with Li Shu, as this young man clearly knew a great deal.
For the time that followed, Li Shu simply watched from the sidelines as Son Gohan instructed Son Goku in his training.
At first, Li Shu had intended to join in, but after witnessing the brutal nature of the training, he decisively gave up on the idea.
I'll wait until I've acquired the [Pain Immunity] ability before I start training, Li Shu thought, basking in the sun with nothing better to do.
Soon, night fell, and after the three of them finished dinner, Son Goku went to sleep early.
Son Gohan came to Li Shu's room.
Li Shu seemed to have been waiting for a long time, as if he knew he would come. Son Gohan asked, "What are your plans for the future?"
"I have none, and I hope you will take me in, Grandfather." Li Shu had his story ready and spoke with sincerity: "I am an orphan with no one to rely on, and I've lost my job. I came to the mountains to clear my head, but I got lost. You know the rest—I nearly starved to death."
"I want to stay and repay you for saving my life."
Son Gohan was silent for a moment, then looked at Li Shu's tail and said, "Have you also experienced transforming into a Great Ape? After Goku transforms, he loses his reason and retains no memory of it. I never told him, which is why I've never taken him out into the world."
"But you are different from Goku; you can remember everything that happens after you transform."
Li Shu did not hesitate and immediately replied, "I have a way to control the berserk power Goku unleashes when he transforms."
