Asgard, Ancestral Ruins

This place lay deep within the mountains of Asgard, protected by magic and extremely secure. Before the great battle began, the Warriors Three had sent Asgard's civilians here to wait for the battle to end.

But they could not hide forever. Asgard now faced the danger of destruction, and they had to leave.

William gave Black Widow a task: evacuate Asgard's civilians alongside Valkyrie. By the time Heimdall arrived at the Ancestral Ruins, they had already begun withdrawing.

"Odin!"

When the people saw Odin on Heimdall's back, their faces filled with shock. Odin, once so high and mighty, the king of Asgard, now possessed none of the bearing of the Allfather. He leaned against Heimdall's back with his eyes closed, looking as though he had fallen asleep.

Just then, the entire Ancestral Ruins suddenly shook. Great clouds of dust and chunks of rubble rained down from above, nearly striking them.

Heimdall knew that Thor and the Serpent's battle had reached this place. If they remained here, they could very well be buried alive.

"We're leaving. It isn't safe here!"

Everyone hurried outside, with Black Widow and Valkyrie helping lead the crowd. But even outside, they would not be safe. As long as the Serpent and the Fire Giant Surtur remained here, Asgard would not be safe.

"Asgard is not a place. It is its people!"

Heimdall remembered William's words. It seemed he needed to find a way to get the civilians out of Asgard. But to leave Asgard, they had to cross the Bifrost and reach the observatory.

Not to mention that the Serpent had just rammed the Bifrost apart—even if they could make it there, they would be facing the terrible battle between the Fire Giant and the World Serpent. They would never reach the observatory.
