What would happen if your future self traveled back to the past and met your past self?
It was a question. Some said that the future self would disappear; others said that when the two came into contact, the universe would explode because of a spacetime paradox.
Of course, that was not a problem in the Marvel world, but Steve Rogers felt it was best not to interact or make too much contact with his past self, lest it cause unnecessary trouble.
Yet he had not expected to run straight into another version of himself—the Captain America of this past world.
"I'm not Loki, and I don't want to hurt you."
Captain America took the case containing the Mind Scepter and set it down.
If he could avoid fighting, Captain America naturally did not want to fight another version of himself, so he tried to reason with the other man.
"Listen, we're not enemies. I'm only here for that scepter..."
"I can't hand the scepter over to villains like you. Surrender now!" But the other Captain America could not be bothered to listen. He immediately raised his shield and attacked.
This was a battle between two Captain Americas. They wore the same clothes, had the same hairstyle, spoke in identical voices, and even held identical shields. Once they started fighting, it was impossible to tell who was who.
But the future and past Captain Americas did have some differences. Namely, they spoke differently.
The past Captain America always loved lecturing people. He believed himself to be righteous and was willing to pay any price for freedom. In short, he was annoying. No wonder the Avengers had not liked him much before and even called him Commissar Luo. Steve had never realized that his former self had been such a chatterbox.
