Background / History

Su Ming develops the Evil Phoenix by reversing Flender's prescribed cultivation path. Rather than strengthen phoenix fire and suppress evil, he uses Evil Devour to consume the fire origin. He argues that evil's ability to disturb and influence phoenix flames demonstrates its greater strength. This disagreement eventually leads him to leave Shrek Academy and seek cultivation freedom in Spirit Hall 1 5 6.

A purely evil environment in the Mimicry Training Room accelerates the transformation, but the final 0.1% of fire remains inseparable through devouring alone. Bibi Dong identifies this as a qualitative-change bottleneck requiring an external force. Following her advice, Su Ming obtains immortal herbs from the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well and consumes the water-attributed Narcissus Jade Bone, whose medicinal power enables the complete transformation 8 9 11 12.
