Beating Flender to a Pulp and Discovering Xiao Wu, a Transformed Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast
Flender took a step back for every sentence he heard.
In the end, he was driven to the foot of the academy's crumbling wall. With his back against it, he had nowhere left to go.
"What? The dean is actually that kind of person!"
"I think I know who that child is. He was an orphan, and I remember him awakening a pretty good Martial Soul six years ago. I just don't know where he went after that."
"Keeping him trapped by his side for six years? Is this man crazy?"
The parents around them couldn't help but curse Flender.
If not for the fact that he was a Soul Master, they probably would've pelted him with stones on the spot.
"Twin Martial Souls? Innate Full Soul Power? Didn't my teacher say Twin Martial Souls and Innate Full Soul Power were incredibly rare?" Tang San thought to himself.
Then he noticed that Xiao Wu, standing behind him, was trembling.
"Xiao Wu, what's wrong?"
"X-Xiao San, c-can we leave...? Let's not go to this academy..." Xiao Wu spoke with a tremble, not daring to look at Mighty Lion Douluo.
Tang San was at a loss.
"It's okay, Xiao Wu. Let's wait a little longer. Since my teacher recommended this academy, it must have something special about it. We shouldn't let appearances fool us."
In truth, Tang San was having his doubts, too.
The dean of Shrek Academy really did seem a little crazy.
He had actually kept a child trapped for six years.
Mighty Lion Douluo looked down at Flender and spoke each word slowly.
"That child now belongs to my Spirit Hall."
"As his senior, it's only natural for me to get justice for him."
With that, Mighty Lion Douluo raised his fist and punched Flender.
He didn't use a trace of Soul Power.
Flender hadn't even come to his senses before the blow sent him flying.
His glasses shattered beyond repair.
Flender lay sprawled on the ground, his face bruised purple and green, blood from the corner of his mouth mixing with dirt and smearing his face.
It wasn't that he hadn't thought of fighting back.
But the pressure of a Titled Douluo bore down on him like a mountain. He couldn't even release his Martial Soul, and could only lie there like a dead dog while someone beat him.
Mighty Lion Douluo jumped over and slammed a fist into his shoulder. Bone cracked with a sharp snap.
Flender groaned, but cursed inwardly.
Ji Ye, you little brat.
I should've known better than to go easy on you.
I should've locked you up at the academy, so you couldn't escape even if you tried.
Mighty Lion Douluo threw another punch, this time into his stomach.
Flender vomited up the sour contents of his stomach.
"Not convinced?" Mighty Lion Douluo sneered.
"I can tell what you're thinking just by the way your eyes shift."
Flender didn't dare think another word.
Mighty Lion Douluo grabbed him by the collar and hauled him up, then slapped him twice, one after the other.
Flender's glasses had flown off long ago. His face was swollen like a pig's head, and two of his teeth were loose.
Zhao Wuji stood to one side, his eyelid twitching nonstop.
He wanted to step in and plead for Flender, but his legs wouldn't obey.
One was a Titled Douluo, the other a Soul Saint. They were two major ranks apart.
Getting involved would be no different from serving himself up on a platter.
Zhao Wuji looked away, not daring to watch any longer.
Silently, he said to himself, Old friend, I'm sorry.
He knew about Ji Ye back then, too.
Six years old, Twin Martial Souls, Innate Full Soul Power.
When Flender told him, his first reaction had been disbelief.
His second thought was that it would be wonderful if such a genius could come to Shrek.
He had even tried to talk Flender out of it, telling him not to force the boy if he wasn't willing. A melon twisted off the vine wouldn't be sweet.
Flender hadn't listened.
"A genius like that—we might never meet another one in our lifetimes if we let him go."
Those were Flender's exact words.
Zhao Wuji hadn't said anything more at the time.
Because he had his own selfish motives.
If such a genius really did come to Shrek, it would be a tremendous boon to the academy.
So he had chosen silence.
For six years, he had kept silent.
Now the boy had come knocking.
Sigh.
Zhao Wuji let out a sigh.
What is meant to be yours will be yours; what isn't cannot be forced.
Flender must have understood that now, but it was too late.
At first, the parents watching had cheered and clapped, enjoying the sight.
But the longer they watched, the more they couldn't bear to look.
It was too awful.
A middle-aged man had been pinned down and beaten for an hour. His face was so swollen even his own mother wouldn't recognize him.
A few softhearted parents shook their heads and left with their children.
"Come on, let's go. Stop watching, or we'll have nightmares tonight."
"This academy probably won't be open much longer. Let's go home."
"What about getting our money back... Should we still ask?"
"Do you dare? Can't you see Lord Soul Master is still furious?"
The crowd gradually dispersed.
At the entrance to the vast Shrek Academy, only a few people remained.
A girl in a green dress, around eleven or twelve years old, with a pure and lovely air.
A girl in a pink dress, hiding behind a boy in blue, her body still trembling.
The boy in blue stood protectively in front of her. His expression was calm, but his eyes were grave.
And a cat-eared girl with an extremely voluptuous figure, dressed in a tight-fitting outfit that showed off her stunning curves. She tilted her head as she watched Mighty Lion Douluo beat the man, her face expressionless, as if she were watching something rather dull.
The four of them had all stayed.
Mighty Lion Douluo shook out his hand and rolled his wrist.
An hour.
Every punch had landed squarely, and he hadn't used Soul Power—just pure physical labor.
It had been a long time since he'd felt so refreshed.
He glanced down at Flender, who had passed out. Blood bubbles oozed from his nose, and he looked like a dead fish.
Most of his anger had gone.
Mighty Lion Douluo turned around, ready to head back.
Then he saw the few people still standing there.
The girl in green.
The boy in blue and the girl in pink behind him.
The cat-eared girl.
Mighty Lion Douluo paused.
These little ones hadn't been scared off?
They had some nerve.
But then—
His gaze fell on the girl in pink.
His expression changed.
He looked like someone who had crossed the desert for three days and nights and suddenly spotted a clear spring.
A Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast.
A transformed Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast.
Mighty Lion Douluo's mouth slowly spread into a grin, and he strode toward Xiao Wu.
Tang San noticed the look in Mighty Lion Douluo's eyes.
It wasn't the way someone looked at a person.
It was the way someone looked at prey.
Xiao Wu was trembling.
She had been trembling ever since Mighty Lion Douluo appeared.
Now that he was walking toward her, her legs felt as heavy as lead. She couldn't take a single step.
She wanted to run.
But her body wouldn't obey.
A transformed Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast was no different from a rabbit in front of a Titled Douluo.
Well, she was a rabbit to begin with.
Mighty Lion Douluo reached Xiao Wu, and Tang San stepped between them.
Tang San clasped his hands and bowed deeply.
"I'm Tang San. Greetings, senior."
His voice was steady, and his expression respectful.
Mighty Lion Douluo glanced down at him.
Blue clothes, black hair, ordinary looks, but bright eyes.
Still, bright eyes were no use.
Mighty Lion Douluo flicked his hand.
Tang San went flying, rolled twice across the ground, and came to a stop when he hit a rock.
But he wasn't injured.
Mighty Lion Douluo hadn't used much force.
But the meaning behind the flick was clear.
Don't get in the way.
