Ji Ye, having intimate knowledge of Shrek’s reputation and its future students, refused outright 1. Flender, a seven-ring Soul Saint, suppressed the news of Ji Ye’s innate talent by bribing local Spirit Hall deacons and physically confined the boy for six years 7 12.

Ji Ye attempted escape twice before succeeding on his third attempt at age twelve. The first time, he made it five miles from the village before Flender captured him; the second time, he hid in the mountains for two days before hunger forced him from a cave where Flender had waited outside 1. Qian Renxue

Ji Ye’s relationship with Qian Renxue began under tense circumstances when he inadvertently entered the tomb of her father, Qian Xunji, while fleeing Flender. Qian Renxue discovered him, accused him of grave robbery, and escorted him to the Consecration Hall 1 2. Their initial hostility developed into mutual curiosity after she witnessed his unprecedented talent and heard Qian Daoliu’s hints that they might suit one another 3 4.

Ji Ye later recognized Qian Renxue’s disguise as Xue Qinghe without being told by Qian Daoliu. He delivered the Eight-Petal Immortal Orchid to her in Heaven Dou Imperial Palace, intending to compensate for the cultivation time she had lost while undercover 40. The herb helped raise her to rank 79 over the following two years 70. After Ji Ye became Pope, Qian Renxue addressed him as “Your Holiness” and agreed to assist his plan to eliminate the Heaven Dou Imperial Family and build a new empire 70.

Xiao Wu

Ji Ye’s relationship with Xiao Wu is defined by manipulation and leverage. After learning she was a hundred-thousand-year soul beast in human form, he blackmailed her by threatening to expose her secret unless she obeyed him 16 21 22. He publicly ruffled her hair during training, provoking jealousy and confusion among the Shrek students 22.

Tang San

Ji Ye’s connection with Tang San initially arose indirectly through Xiao Wu. Lion Douluo acts as a protective, fatherly figure toward Ji Ye. After hearing of Flender’s abuse, he immediately sought to confront him and later beat the dean for an hour 8 12. Lion Douluo’s visit to Shrek Academy led to his discovery of Xiao Wu’s identity and his subsequent injury by Tang Hao 14 16. Ji Ye felt responsible for those injuries because Lion Douluo had gone to Shrek on his behalf 16.

Qian Daoliu

Qian Daoliu is Ji Ye’s principal elder, sponsor, and political benefactor within Spirit Hall.
