Liu Ruyan began as the number-one disciple of Shu Mountain’s Seven Courtyards outer sect. Despite entering as an outer disciple, she was later directly selected by Cloud Perch Peak, one of Shu Mountain’s Seven Main Peaks, due to her exceptional talent. Her mother had deliberately arranged for her to start from the outer sect so she could adapt to the competitive rules later used in the Hundred Dynasties War. 10 43 239

Her family background remained concealed during her early time at Shu Mountain. She is the Ninth Imperial Princess of the Maple Leaf Dynasty, daughter of Empress Liu Ye and Liu Tian.
