Background / History

Luo Qingchen finds A-Yao as a frightened little girl after two beasts fight outside his cave. She seeks safety beside him, and he bandages her wounds. He takes her blood, declares her his disciple, and tells her he will collect blood monthly. On the journey to Medicine Man Town, she introduces herself as A-Yao; Luo Qingchen permits her to call him “Brother” only in private and “Master” before others. 74

After reaching Medicine Man Town, Luo Qingchen registers A-Yao as a medicine man and secures her work at Crape Myrtle Pharmacy. 75 Under Bai Tang, she learns to read, prepare medicine, and refine it.
