Background / History
Shen Lian initially sought Tang San out in order to confirm the timeline surrounding Holy Soul Village and the opportunity connected to the waterfall’s soul bone. At the time, Tang San was nearing graduation from Notting Junior Spirit Master Academy and studying under Yu Xiaogang. 16
In the Star Dou Great Forest, Tang San pursued Xiao Wu after the Titan Giant Ape drew her away. Shen Lian exploited this event to deny him the Human-Faced Demon Spider’s Spirit Ring and the Eight Spider Lances. 40 Tang San later confronted Shen Lian over his reliance on Soul Guidance Devices while concealing a Bone-Piercing Nail for a potential sneak attack. 48
Shen Lian’s campaign against Shrek devastated Tang San’s life. Tang Hao was killed, Yu Xiaogang was executed before Tang San, and Xiao Wu’s death was used to torment him through the display of a hundred-thousand-year Spirit Ring. These losses drove Tang San into grief, rage, and eventually a mental collapse. 50 56 60 62
After resurfacing with the Clear Sky Sect, Tang San became its Young Sect Master and revealed himself as a Twin Martial Souls user. He led the sect’s tournament team and won the Soul Master Tournament final against Martial Soul Hall through strategy, hidden weapons, and the exposure of his Spirit Bones. 143 148 161
Shen Lian’s killings of the Clear Sky Sect’s elders and the destruction of villages associated with the sect further deepened Tang San’s desire for revenge. Though he attempted to fight Shen Lian directly and later ambush him with powerful hidden weapons, Tang San was repeatedly forced to flee by the overwhelming disparity in power. 152 168 170 218
In the Capital of Slaughter, Tang San inherited the Asura and Rakshasa godhoods. Unable to overcome Shen Lian, he massacred the city’s inhabitants to absorb their blood energy and regain strength. He attempted to escape through the Star Dou Great Forest, but Shen Lian exposed him as the Asura God’s successor to Gu Yuena; she then joined Shen Lian against him and pierced his heart with the Silver Dragon Spear. 266 268 270 271
