Background / History

Qi Wanjun was decisive from childhood, fiercely principled in affection and enmity, and determined to prove herself equal to any man. Few members of the Northern Mausoleum Qi Clan’s younger generation could rival her, though the outside world often reduced her and Qi Ningbing to the “Qi Family’s Twin Jewels.” 191

As the Qi Clan arranged her marriage alliance with Jiang Che, she resisted being treated as a bargaining piece but accepted that the family’s resources carried obligations. She resolved that she would only agree if Jiang Che proved worthy of her. 191

Before formally meeting him, she disguised herself as Qi Ningbing and asked Jiang Che to intervene against Wei Junjie in order to protect her sister from a harmful marriage arrangement.
