After Detective Conan claimed the reward, he sensed the changes in his body, only to find that he felt absolutely nothing.

Even after experiencing so many death cases, Detective Conan still respected human life. Whether victim or criminal, he treated them equally. So no matter how evil a human was, he would not absorb their soul to strengthen himself.
But that was not necessarily certain. Perhaps none of the people he had encountered so far had been evil to that extent. If one day he encountered a criminal whom he could not even accept as belonging to the same Human Species as himself, perhaps he would not be willing to let them die so simply.
As for livestock souls, although he had acted relaxed in the Chat Group, he was not actually that relaxed. It was not about caring or not caring. He was not some extreme moralist or life-equality advocate; he was simply not used to it.
Perhaps it was because he had never personally killed livestock before. Or perhaps this method of increasing his strength resembled demonic cultivation... No, to the lives whose souls he devoured, he truly was a demon.
So be it. To the vast majority of animals, humans were not exactly righteous beings anyway. Unless those animals were protected species—but before they became protected, why did they need protection in the first place?
