Background / History

Di Jun rose to power by establishing the Demon Race through a program of “Ten Thousand Races Becoming Demon,” following the earlier model of the Ancestral Dragon’s dragon transformation plan. He subsequently founded the Heavenly Court to impose order, consolidate the Ten Thousand Races’ strength, and develop the Primordial World. Many races refused his recruitment, however, and he prepared to punish their defiance. 62

As Heavenly Emperor, Di Jun personally governs Central Jun Heaven, the seat of the Heavenly Court. His authority remains incomplete because he controls the Heaven Realm while the Wu Clan controls the Primordial land; this division leaves his imperial position vulnerable to a more capable challenger. 56 69

In the four masterless heavens, Di Jun permits—and encourages—Demon Race factions to fight for the position of Heaven Lord, believing conflict will produce strong rulers. This policy contributes to the disorder of regions such as Min Heaven. 69

He views Dong Wanggong’s separate Immortal Court and title as Head of Male Immortals as direct threats to his own position, and he has also curtailed the influence of allies such as Emperor Xi and Kunpeng when their power became inconvenient. 74 180

He is politically adaptable when presented with a more advantageous course. Jiang Yuan’s argument that the Heavenly Court needed a righteous cause convinced Di Jun to first invite Dong Wanggong to become Immortal Emperor, turning refusal into grounds for a legitimate campaign. 130 131
