In ancient times, the Overlord lifted a cauldron; today, Lu Bai flung a woman.
Lu Bai's Dragon-like Vitality qualified as inborn divine strength, and Phoenix Flying Lady's body was fairly light—but no matter how light she was, she was still a person.
Even someone like Flower Face, whose martial arts had reached fruition, could not completely ignore such a large concealed weapon.
After throwing Phoenix Flying Lady, Lu Bai left without looking back.
Flower Face, left behind to catch Phoenix Flying Lady's corpse, wore a dark expression as he found himself unable to catch up to the fleeing Lu Bai.
That was right—Phoenix Flying Lady was already dead. Gravely wounded and unconscious, she had no ability to resist Lu Bai.
By taking advantage of the heat to handle a little business, Lu Bai meant thoroughly killing Phoenix Flying Lady at that moment, then delaying for a while to perform Extraction on her modules.
If he had not guessed wrong, Phoenix Flying Lady was a great treasure chest.
The stronger one was, the more related extraordinary elements one possessed, and the more modules could be extracted.
If possible, Lu Bai naturally would have wanted to save Phoenix Flying Lady. After all, he still lacked a guide in this world.
But unfortunately, if he brought Phoenix Flying Lady along, he might not have been able to escape.
Rather than let her die in someone else's hands, he might as well take over himself and open her up as a treasure chest.
After circling around, Lu Bai had not gone far. Bold because his skills were great, he returned to the vicinity of the inn and observed the movements of the Hundred Flower Grave members.
"Novels are all lies. Who said searching corpses would turn up Secret Manuals?" Lu Bai had already felt up the corpses of three Martial Forest people, yet he had not even found a scrap of paper.
And the Hundred Flower Grave, a Martial Forest faction that dared resist the Outer Realm Demon, counted as a major power no matter what.
A major power like this definitely had Secret Manuals in its stronghold. Since he could not find any on people, he might as well go straight to their home and look.
Besides, Lu Bai was also deeply concerned about the modules implanted in the mouths of the black-clothed men earlier.
"Modules should be things that Travelers can condense only by borrowing the power of the God of Thousand Dimensions. Why does a local faction claiming to resist the Outer Realm Demon possess them?"
"Flower Face had originally been beaten down, yet later managed to grievously wound Phoenix Flying Lady. He must have borrowed the power of the modules embedded in those people's mouths."
"And what method did he use to borrow that power?"
The profession of Traveler was extremely free. There were no missions or anything of the sort; all gains depended on oneself.
One could truly become a tourist who traveled everywhere, taking in the scenery of different dimensions.
But if one wanted sufficient returns, one had to take sufficient action and involve oneself in all manner of events.
Lu Bai's evaluation on the panel was Greed-Seeker.
His desires far surpassed those of ordinary people. Specifically, if he wanted something, he had to obtain it.
It was precisely because of this overpowering greed that Lu Bai would not endure a comfortable life.
There was obvious danger within the Hundred Flower Grave, but Lu Bai would not hide to one side because of it. He would actively pursue every benefit.
Fortunately, he also possessed a certain degree of combat strength.
He knocked out a black-clothed man and put on the man's clothes, disguising himself as a companion.
Following the Hundred Flower Grave people, Lu Bai rather smoothly located their stronghold: a manor outside the town.
The manor covered quite a large area, and there were many people within. People came and went everywhere.
Lu Bai did not hurry to blend in. Instead, he found a secluded spot in the distance and squatted there to inspect his gains.
He felt that before entering this new dungeon, he needed to level himself up once.
Killing Phoenix Flying Lady had yielded eight modules. Adding the three he had obtained from killing the black-clothed men earlier, Lu Bai now had eleven modules in total.
They were: four [Internal Force], three [Acupoint], two [Meridian], [Dantian], and [Attachment].
Among them, [Attachment] was a new type of module, called a Release Module.
"Energy, operation, element, and release?"
The harvest was abundant, but how to turn those gains into strength was a problem.
Opening the Skill Bar, Lu Bai selected several modules and placed them inside.
Yet nothing happened.
Only through Lu Bai's continuous experimentation did he gradually feel out some of the principles.
"Using [Dantian] as the foundation, integrating [Internal Force] into it, then using [Meridian] to link [Dantian] and [Acupoint], placing them in the arm, with [Attachment] as the release port..."
Lu Bai swung out a palm, activating the Skill Bar with a thought at the same time. He then felt a special force attach itself to his arm.
It allowed Lu Bai's ordinary palm strike to unleash strength far beyond normal, even stirring up a gust of palm wind from thin air.
Yet Lu Bai's face darkened after delivering that palm strike.
He rolled up his sleeve. The arm that had thrown that palm was already covered in bruises.
Then, after removing the several modules he had placed in the Skill Bar, he discovered the problem.
"This [Internal Force] module is actually a consumable. It was completely used up by a single palm strike."
"And both [Meridian] and [Acupoint] have suffered damage to varying degrees."
"Perhaps modules are not limited to four types. There are more. I should still be missing something; this skill is not complete."
After thinking for a while, Lu Bai named the skill [Internal Energy Protection (Incomplete)].
He was definitely missing something, causing the skill's power to run out of control.
Even if the [Internal Force] module was a consumable, it should not have been exhausted in a single palm strike.
"In this move, most of the Internal Force was actually wasted. It provided little enhancement while also injuring my own arm."
"So combining skills requires corresponding knowledge as well." Lu Bai scratched his head.
"Secret Manuals are the key. Even if I cannot cultivate them directly, I still need to collect a few." After some thought, Lu Bai came to this conclusion.
The positions of the Meridians and Acupoints in the skill [Internal Energy Protection (Incomplete)] were merely a line Lu Bai had casually drawn out.
During the circulation of Internal Force, it had rampaged wildly in all directions. That was what caused the corresponding modules to be damaged. Fortunately, the damage was not serious, and they could still be used.
"The arm damage is fine, just superficial flesh wounds. Two Meridians can apply Internal Energy Protection to two parts of the body." Lu Bai nodded in satisfaction.
For now, the module Skill Bar system was exceptionally superior.
Although the result of the first release was not ideal, one had to know that Lu Bai had never come into contact with internal cultivation before.
Yet now, he could instantly use the hard work others had spent years or even decades cultivating.
Lu Bai had never been a rigid person. If he could gain in an instant the hard work others had spent decades on, why would he not use it?
An unstable foundation?
Since when was power such an inconvenient thing? If it existed and he could use it, that was enough.
Just as Lu Bai would use lime if he could, use a Groin Kick if he could, and if there were a Dump Truck, that would be even better.
Who cared whether it was low and dirty? As long as it worked, that was enough.
Back then, relying on the robust body granted by his Dragon-like Vitality talent, along with every kind of shameless, low-down fighting method, Lu Bai had become the nightmare of goodness knew how many people.
Lu Bai was not someone who cared about propriety. The only thing he cared about was immediate combat power.
