Background / History

Papal succession and Wu Ling's apprenticeship

Bibi Dong is newly appointed Pope when Wu Ling joins Spirit Hall. She has recently killed her own teacher for revenge and initially intends to destroy the organization rather than nurture another powerhouse for it. Her original plan is to use Wu Ling as bait to expose and eliminate opposition, without concern for his survival 3 11.

His account of the “Age of Gods” changes her assessment. Although fascinated by his claims, she demands evidence and watches him perform Swallow Reversal. Recognizing that the technique manipulates space without relying on soul power—and that even she would struggle to reproduce it—she accepts him as her disciple 9 10.

Her orders then shift from exploiting Wu Ling to protecting him. His residence is moved near her own, and Gui Mei and Yue Guan take responsibility for his education and cultivation. She increasingly treats him affectionately, checks his progress, and permits him to visit or bring his family to Spirit City 11 13 19.

Cultivation, recruitment, and institutional growth

Bibi Dong personally leads a Star Dou Great Forest operation during her ninth-ring hunt. Her party kills Xiao Wu's mother, secures the corpse, and withdraws before the Titan Giant Ape and Azure Bull Python can catch them 23.

She also acts on Wu Ling's claimed foresight, sending Gui Mei to search Heaven Dou for an orphan with Innate Full Spirit Power and a food-type martial soul. When Oscar is found, she grants Wu Ling authority to decide whether to recruit or kill him 31 42.

Despite her private hatred of Spirit Hall, she remains attentive to its development. She supports Wu Ling's cultivation, technological work, and access to senior leadership. She also respects his reluctance to attract attention, arranging an inconspicuous seat when he declines to watch the tournament beside her 35 45 46 117.

The Affection Elixir and Yu Xiaogang's return

Concerned that Bibi Dong might give Yu Xiaogang techniques developed by Wu Ling, Xiao Fen conceals an Affection Elixir in her cultivation pills. The drug amplifies Bibi Dong's existing affection for Wu Ling whenever she experiences positive emotions, including pity or love for another person; anger and hatred alone do not trigger it 50 86.

When Yu Xiaogang returns seeking a Heaven-tier cultivation technique, Bibi Dong rejects his appeal to their former relationship. Instead, she demands secret techniques from other sects in exchange, including the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's Exquisite Heart 84 86.

She also refuses to disclose her Twin Martial Soul cultivation method after revealing that she knows Tang San is Tang Hao's son. However, when Yu Xiaogang offers his own life for Tang San's, she agrees not to personally harm the boy and orders him out. The hundred-thousand-year hunt and Holy Son appointment

Bibi Dong supports Wu Ling's plan to obtain the Titan Giant Ape's ring, supplying detailed records of its movements and joining the hunt with four other Titled Douluos. While Wu Ling targets the ape, she helps contain the Sky Azure Bull Python; the group ultimately defeats both beasts 98 100 101.

After absorbing her own additional hundred-thousand-year ring, she views herself as Spirit Hall's present and Wu Ling as its future. She and the elders approve his direct appointment as Holy Son, which she later announces publicly at the tournament awards ceremony 103 105 117.

Martial soul fusion

Wu Ling proposes fusing Bibi Dong's Twin Martial Souls into a single god-tier soul. Although she trusts him deeply, she is anxious about attempting a transformation without historical precedent. After receiving his explanation, she drinks the prepared potion and entrusts herself to him 144.

During the procedure, both martial souls leave her body, temporarily making her defenseless. War and the God Realm

By the later tournament, Bibi Dong has established supreme authority within Martial Soul Hall. She remains present when Tang Hao intervenes to protect Tang San and Wu Ling defeats him. Her relationship with Spirit Hall is contradictory: she hates it because of Qian Xunji and wishes to destroy it, yet works diligently for its development. Even after sensing Wu Ling's return from another world, she continues attending to her duties 35 173.

Her severity is especially visible with Yu Xiaogang, whom she intimidates, humiliates, and confronts over his appeals to their past.
