Background / History
Tang San awakened Blue Silver Grass in Holy Soul Village, but his Innate Full Soul Power immediately drew the attention of Martial Soul Hall personnel. Bibi Dong ordered that he be left alone, apparently intending to make her own arrangements for him 73 74.
At Nuoding Academy, Yu Xiaogang accepted Tang San as a disciple. Tang San received the Soul Tool belt he named Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges, compared Yu Xiaogang's cultivation manual with his own Mysterious Heaven Skill, and revealed his second martial soul: the Clear Sky Hammer 74. Yu Xiaogang later secured a Profound-grade Soul Art cultivation technique for him 82.
Tang San’s first ring hunt nearly killed Yu Xiaogang when the Sharp-Scaled Snake's scales wounded him protecting his disciple. Tang San then killed the snake by striking its vital point with a Sleeve Arrow and absorbed its spirit ring 75.
His identity as Tang Hao’s son was later exposed, alongside the revelation that his Blue Silver Grass was the Blue Silver Emperor 207. Wu Ling subsequently told him that his mother, Tang Yin, had survived her sacrifice but had been transformed into a blade of Blue Silver Grass under Wu Ling’s control 208.
Personality
Tang San is loyal to Shrek Academy and its students. He intervened when Dai Mubai was being maimed, coordinating with Xiao Wu so she could seek help while he held Wu Ling’s attention 185. He also rebuked Ning Rongrong for her attitude and advised her to apologize to Dai Mubai 184.
He trusts his techniques and tactical preparation deeply, particularly the arts inherited from the Tang Sect. This confidence becomes a weakness against Wu Ling, whose fire rendered Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass and concealed weapons ineffective and whose physical ability overcame Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track 185 186.
After Wu Ling’s abuse, revelations about Tang Yin, and Tang Hao’s execution, Tang San becomes bitter, vengeful, and increasingly estranged from Yu Xiaogang. His voice grows harsh, and he enters the Continental Advanced Spirit Master Tournament to save Xiao Wu and pursue revenge 208 226 238.
Appearance
Tang San is a young male spirit master who carries concealed weapons at his waist and later fights with the Clear Sky Hammer.
- His hands become jade-white when using Mysterious Jade Hand 185.
- His eyes turn deep purple when activating Purple Demon Eye 185.
- He carries the Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges belt for storage and weapon access 74.
- He displayed five spirit rings—three purple and two black—during tournament preparations 227.
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
Tang San possesses the Blue Silver Emperor and the Clear Sky Hammer, both supported by Innate Full Soul Power 74 207.
- Blue Silver Emperor — His evolved Blue Silver Grass martial soul; its later rings emphasize poison rather than toughness or sharpness 229.
- Clear Sky Hammer — His second martial soul, used for direct combat and hammer techniques 74 233.
- His two martial souls were forcibly extracted after his capture, leaving him without them 238.
Blue Silver Grass Spirit Skills
- Blue Silver Flying Knife — First spirit skill gained from the Sharp-Scaled Snake’s ring 75.
- Blue Silver Bind — A binding skill displayed during his challenge against Zhao Wuji 177.
- Against Wu Ling, both Flying Knife and Bind were burned to ash before reaching their target due to the latter’s flames 186.
- His fourth millennium and fifth ten-thousand-year Blue Silver Grass rings enhanced toxicity; he used poison-coated Dragon Whisker Needles to defeat Elephant Armor Academy 229.
Tang Sect Arts
Tang San inherited several techniques from the Tang Sect and Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record.
- Mysterious Heaven Skill — His personal cultivation method, which aided his absorption of an over-limit spirit ring 74 227.
- Purple Demon Eye — Enhances his observation; he used it while targeting Wu Ling with concealed weapons 185.
- Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — Evasive movement technique. Wu Ling tracked it through superior physical ability and familiarity with the technique 185 186.
- Mysterious Jade Hand — Turns his hands jade-white before combat 185.
- Sleeve Arrow — Used to kill the Sharp-Scaled Snake by piercing its vital point 75.
- Dragon Whisker Needle — Eighth-ranked hidden weapon in the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record; later combined with poison in tournament combat 186 229.
Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer
A self-created hammer technique used with the Clear Sky Hammer.
- Tang San demonstrated proficiency with it against Feng Xiaotian 233.
- Feng Xiaotian exploited a flaw while Tang San changed the hammer’s rotation, breaking his defense and defeating him 233.
Seven-in-One Fusion Skill
Tang San led Shrek Academy in a seven-person spirit-power fusion during the tournament finals.
- The fusion enabled his Clear Sky Avatar, a Tool Soul Avatar 235.
- Martial Soul Hall’s opposing seven-in-one fusion overwhelmed the Shrek team and left them severely injured 235.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges — Soul Tool belt given by Yu Xiaogang and named by Tang San 74.
- Hidden weapons — Includes Sleeve Arrows and the Dragon Whisker Needle 75 186.
- Clear Sky Hammer — His second martial soul and principal close-combat weapon 74.
Relationships
- Yu Xiaogang — Master and early mentor. Tang San initially trusted him deeply, especially during the first spirit-ring hunt, but later lost much of his respect for him 75 226.
- Tang Hao — Father. Tang Hao entrusted Tang San to Yu Xiaogang and later intervened repeatedly to protect him; Wu Ling executed Tang Hao in front of Tang San 82 235 238.
- Tang Yin — Mother. She sacrificed herself to protect Tang Hao and was later transformed into a Blue Silver Grass blade under Wu Ling’s control 208.
- Xiao Wu — Close companion and love interest. She attempted to sacrifice herself so Tang San could escape Wu Ling 82 208.
- Dai Mubai — Shrek comrade. Tang San attempted to protect him from Wu Ling and later joined him and Ma Hongjun against their hired tournament teammates 185 227.
- Wu Ling — Primary adversary. Wu Ling defeated and humiliated Tang San, manipulated events around him, killed Tang Hao, and imprisoned Tang San 185 186 238.
- Feng Xiaotian — Tournament rival. Feng Xiaotian defeated Tang San by exploiting the incomplete execution of Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer 232 233.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Early Cultivation
Tang San’s Innate Full Soul Power and dual martial souls establish him as an exceptional young spirit master. Under Yu Xiaogang, he acquires his first ring, develops Blue Silver Flying Knife, and begins cultivating with higher-grade techniques 73 75 82.
Conflict with Wu Ling
At Shrek Academy, Tang San confronts Wu Ling to defend Dai Mubai. His Purple Demon Eye, concealed weapons, Blue Silver Grass, and Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track all fail against Wu Ling’s fire, constitution, and speed; Wu Ling blinds his left eye, disables his hands, and shoots his knee 185 186.
Continental Advanced Spirit Master Tournament
Motivated by Xiao Wu’s peril and revenge, Tang San joins Shrek’s improvised tournament team. He reveals Soul King-level power, uses poisonous Blue Silver Grass and hidden weapons to secure victories, survives Shi Nian’s ambush through Wu Ling’s intervention, and suffers defeat to Feng Xiaotian 226 227 229 230 233.
In the finals, Tang San leads Shrek’s Seven-in-One Fusion Skill and manifests Clear Sky Avatar, but Martial Soul Hall’s prepared team defeats them 235.
Imprisonment
Tang Hao arrives to save Tang San but is defeated and executed by Wu Ling. Tang San witnesses his father’s death, is incapacitated by Xiao Hong, and has both martial souls extracted before being imprisoned 236 238.
Trivia
- Tang San’s original martial soul was initially dismissed as weak Blue Silver Grass despite his Innate Full Soul Power 73.
- Wu Ling considers Tang San poorly compatible with both the Blue Silver Emperor and Clear Sky Hammer because of Tang San’s preference for ambushes and assassination-style combat 179.
- Tang San’s later use of hidden weapons can be publicly explained as specialized spirit tools he researched himself 229.
