Ueno Kei survived Pain’s attack through Hamura Otsutsuki’s intervention and returned as the Five Kage gathered to confront Akatsuki. At the summit, Kei stood against the other villages’ threats to Konoha while Sasuke’s team fought its way toward the Raikage.

• Jiraiya entered Amegakure to confront Nagato, and Ueno Kei arrived in time to save him before facing Pain, Tobi, and the Six Paths alone.
• Ueno Kei unleashed Lightning Release—Apocalypse Judgment, but Pain, Tobi, and Zetsu survived inside the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, and Ueno Kei vanished in its attack.
• Hamura Otsutsuki appeared in Ueno Kei’s consciousness and explained his connection to Kaguya, the Ten-Tails, and the chakra of Asura and Indra.
• After Konoha mourned Ueno Kei’s apparent death, he emerged from a spatial vortex, learned that Hamura had saved him, and returned to Konoha after checking on Itachi Uchiha.
• Ueno Kei reunited with Tsunade and Jiraiya, learned that Nagato had revived those killed in Konoha, and headed for the Five Kage Summit in the Land of Iron.
• At the summit, the Kage argued over who should lead the Shinobi Allied Forces, and Ueno Kei appeared alive before White Zetsu revealed Sasuke’s presence nearby.
• Ueno Kei threatened the Kage when they discussed detaining Konoha’s group, then left with Kakashi, the Fifth Mizukage, and the Third Tsuchikage to find Sasuke.
• Sasuke, Suigetsu, and Jugo fought the samurai surrounding them, and Sasuke faced the Fourth Raikage before revealing his blood-colored Mangekyō Sharingan.

Ueno Kei and the Five Kage faced Tobi’s declaration of war, while Ueno Kei protected Naruto and arranged for him to train with Killer B. As Naruto learned to control the Nine-Tails’ chakra, Ueno Kei confronted his inner self, uncovered Kisame’s intelligence, and learned that several threats were converging around Kaguya and Obito.

• Sasuke fought the Fourth Raikage until Ueno Kei intervened, defeated Sasuke, and confirmed the truth about the Uchiha massacre.
• Tobi transported Sasuke and Hawk away, revealed the Eye of the Moon Plan, and declared war after the Five Kage rejected his demand for the Eight-Tails and Nine-Tails.
• The Five Kage formed the Allied Forces, and Ueno Kei returned to Konoha before taking Naruto to a secret refuge shared with Kumogakure.
• Naruto defeated Shizuka in their arranged duel, urged her to choose her own future, and helped her face her grief before Kabuto attacked.
• Kabuto offered intelligence in exchange for Itachi’s corpse, but Ueno Kei refused and drove him off after Kabuto summoned reincarnated shinobi.
• Ueno Kei and Naruto reached Kumogakure’s giant sea turtle, where Killer B began training Naruto and Ueno Kei faced and destroyed his dark counterpart beneath True Falls.

Ueno Kei joined the Allied Forces as new Otsutsuki enemies arrived, pursued Black Zetsu’s offer, and fought Moryo. The arc ended with Moryo weakened and Ueno Kei confronting him after he escaped the battlefield.

• Ueno Kei arrived at Allied Forces headquarters, learned of the battlefield’s dire situation, and agreed that Sasuke and Itachi would help fight Akatsuki.
• Itachi reunited with Sasuke, explained the threat posed by Kabuto and Obito, and persuaded Sasuke to deal with Kabuto first.
• Ueno Kei followed Itachi’s intelligence to the Land of Rainbow and discovered Momoshiki Otsutsuki, Kinshiki Otsutsuki, and Toneri there.
• Ueno Kei fought Momoshiki and Kinshiki, but they escaped after Black Zetsu opened spatial rifts and the Great Elder stabilized them.
• Black Zetsu offered Ueno Kei a deal, and Kei accepted it before setting out to confront Obito and prevent Kaguya Otsutsuki’s revival.
• Naruto and Killer B left the Cloud Ninja island, while the Allied Forces faced Obito’s tailed beasts and Uchiha Madara’s assault.
• Orochimaru offered Sasuke a way to learn the truth from the previous Hokage, while Itachi sent Kisame with supplies and a scroll for Ueno Kei.
