Bibi Dong was a disciple of Qian Xunji before becoming Pope. Qian Renxue identifies her as her father's killer, but Qian Xunji later appears alive as an Evil Soul Master, leaving that account of his death incomplete 52 179.

After hearing Tang Hao's account, Ling Yu concludes that he himself severely wounded Qian Xunji twenty years earlier and took Bibi Dong into hiding. He also concludes that she resurfaced twelve years earlier to help Tang Hao. These are Ling Yu's deductions about a past he has not fully remembered, rather than events directly shown in those chapters 141 144.

By the time Ling Yu travels to Spirit City, Bibi Dong has held the papacy for five years. Yue Guan describes her as the most ambitious and capable Pope in Spirit Hall's history, praising both her strength and methods 7.
