Background / History

Evil Soul Masters are Soul Masters who employ exceptionally cruel means to cultivate. Yue Guan describes them as people who kill humans to advance, commit extensive atrocities, and lack a Soul Master’s sense of justice; Spirit Hall’s policy is to eliminate them without mercy 33.

Their predation also extends to Soul Beasts. Their slaughter of Soul Beasts can provoke major Soul Beast rulers, and an Evil Soul Master of at least Soul Douluo level previously gravely wounded a Demonic Eye Peacock 71. Some Evil Soul Masters are known to consume human flesh and blood, while others seek to abduct victims for abuse or to offer to their superiors 63 105 151.

Spirit Hall uses the Labyrinth Grand Canyon as both a prison and a proving ground against them. The canyon’s outer region contains Evil Soul Masters below Soul King rank, while its sealed inner region holds captives ranging from Soul King to Soul Emperor, with possible Soul Sages removed by Spirit Hall once detected 60.

The group’s scale became increasingly apparent as powerful members emerged. Three Titled Douluo-level Evil Soul Masters, including one with a hundred-thousand-year soul ring, confronted Soul Beast kings in the Star Dou Great Forest 73. Later, the Anti-Evil Soul Master Alliance discovered that the organization possessed multiple Titled Douluo, including a Rank 98 member called the “Fourth Elder,” implying still stronger elders above him 127.

Though the Extreme North was initially believed to be their main stronghold, Ling Yu concluded that this was a deception after observing that the Holy Spirit Cult elders fled southeast toward the Star Luo Empire rather than deeper into the region 162. By then, Evil Soul Masters had infiltrated and threatened Star Luo, with former Spirit Hall Pope Qian Xunji among their ranks 179 180.

Appearance

Evil Soul Masters have no single physical appearance or Martial Soul. Their outward appearances can be deceptive: some appear ordinary or even handsome, while their Martial Souls and conduct reveal their nature 155.

• Many high-ranking members wear black robes during combat 133 155.
• Known Martial Souls include the Resentful Spirit, puppet Martial Souls, Dark Demonic Ape, Mad Blood Demonic Dragon, Sword of Dark Judgment, and mutated Six-Armed Spirit Ape 61 65 74 155 156.

Evil Soul Masters increase their strength through killing rather than ordinary cultivation alone.

Evil Soul Masters massacre several hundred villagers, prompting Yue Guan to dispatch Ling Yu, Hu Liena, Yan, and Xie Yue to eliminate the surviving perpetrators. Ling Yu kills multiple enemies, including Soul Ancestors, during the operation 33 34.

Labyrinth Grand Canyon

Ling Yu enters Spirit Hall’s canyon prison and encounters increasingly dangerous Evil Soul Masters. Over two years, he kills nearly ninety percent of the outer region’s nearly thousand prisoners, including virtually all members above Soul Ancestor rank 61 67.

Star Dou Forest Conflict

Evil Soul Masters slaughter Soul Beasts, provoking Scarlet King and drawing Yue Guan and Ling Yu into a confrontation with three Titled Douluo-level members of the Holy Spirit Organization 71 73. Their stalling tactics cause the bodies of fallen combatants to wither, suggesting an ulterior objective 74.

Continental Resurgence
