Ye Qiong accepted the challenge and looked toward Phainon at his side.
"Phainon, you go."
"Me?"
Phainon felt a touch of surprise at these words.
"Yes, this prince is very strong; he should be a match for you."
Phainon was startled and looked at the red-haired youth opposite them.
At that moment, he saw the other party looking back at him, his face full of fighting spirit.
Facing such straightforward hostility, Phainon felt a warmth in his chest, and a spark of his own fighting spirit rose to meet it.
He loosened his shoulders and nodded, agreeing to Ye Qiong's request.
"Fine, then let me handle it."
The red-haired youth looked at Phainon and asked, "Are you the strongest in your academy? You don't look like it."
Phainon smiled. "Whether I'm strong or not, you'll know once we've fought."
The red-haired youth let out a faint smile in response. "Very well, then please."
The two walked out of the VIP box one after the other, heading toward the back of the Soul Fighting Arena.
Seeing this, Wang Sheng leaned in toward Ye Qiong and asked, "Teacher, are they arranging a private soul duel?"
Ye Qiong nodded, then beckoned to the others. "Everyone, follow me and let's go take a look."
The group arrived at the spectator area of the private soul fighting arena.
At this time, the viewing gallery was empty, save for the members of Amphoreus Academy.
The red-haired youth and Phainon stepped onto the stage, and the youth turned to face Phainon. "What is your Martial Soul?"
Phainon's expression was indifferent. "Khaslana. And you?"
"Spear of Divine Retribution."
As the red-haired youth spoke, he raised his hand and summoned his Martial Soul—a phantom image of a dark red spear.
"My name is Mydei. State your name."
"Phainon."
The moment the words fell, Phainon also summoned his Martial Soul, Dawnmaker already gripped in his hand.
Behind both of them, identical configurations of soul rings manifested simultaneously.
Seeing this, both were startled, and immediately, a fighting spirit even more intense than before ignited in their eyes.
The two stood facing each other from a distance, neither in a rush to strike.
But after a few breaths, Phainon decided to strike first.
He stomped his foot, his figure erupting forward like a bolt of lightning, Dawnmaker raised to slash directly at Mydei's face.
Seeing this, Mydei immediately raised his fist to block.
With a sharp "clang," a shower of sparks erupted where fist met blade.
Mydei's arm shuddered, and he slid back half a step, but he immediately twisted his body and threw a straight punch toward Phainon's waist.
Phainon reacted with lightning speed, dodging to the side, and then used the momentum to bring Dawnmaker down in a slash toward Mydei's shoulder.
However, Mydei did not retreat; instead, he stepped forward to meet the attack, throwing an uppercut directly at the blade.
Clang!
Another hard collision.
Both men retreated two steps at the same time.
Phainon shook his wrist, which had gone numb from the vibration, and looked at Mydei. "Not bad strength."
Mydei rotated his shoulders, a refreshing grin spreading across his face.
"You're not bad yourself."
He paused, then beckoned to Phainon with his hand.
"Come on, show me your courage."
"I'll accompany you to the end."
After Phainon replied, he raised Dawnmaker and pointed it at Mydei, his fighting spirit intensifying.
Mydei grinned, then spread his hands wide.
"Flow, Blood of Hanging Edge!"
The next second, the second soul ring behind him flared brilliantly, and his aura surged abruptly.
He then shot forward like a cannonball, unleashing several crimson fist shadows toward Phainon.
In the stands, Wang Sheng and the others watched this scene, looking toward Ye Qiong with confusion.
"Dean, didn't you say Mydei's martial soul was the Spear of Divine Retribution? Why is he using his fists?"
Ye Qiong smiled faintly.
How was he supposed to explain this to them?
Mydei's martial soul, the Spear of Divine Retribution, was not necessarily a weapon.
Just as there were no words in the dictionary of Hanging Peak City.
Having the word "spear" did not necessarily mean it was a spear.
This "spear" represented more of an authority over strife.
Of course, if one insisted that Mydei possessed a spear, that wouldn't be wrong—the crimson spear shadows were proof of that—but Mydei excelled at close-quarters combat, so he transformed those spear shadows into fists.
This was the authority of strife; quite miraculous, wasn't it?
Meanwhile, on the soul fighting arena, seeing Mydei's frenzied barrage of fist shadows, Phainon's eyes sharpened as he held Dawnmaker horizontally before him to defend.
Clang, clang, clang, clang, clang!
A rapid series of collisions rang out.
Phainon resisted with all his might, his feet nearly sinking into the ground, yet he was still forced back several meters by Mydei's onslaught.
Mydei, however, grew fiercer with every strike, his fist shadows falling like a violent storm.
In the spectator stands, everyone watched the scene with clenched fists.
"Why is Phainon being pushed back?"
Ye Qiong began to explain:
"Mydei's second soul skill is Blood for Blood."
"He actively burns his Soul Power to transform it into Blood of Strife, significantly boosting his attack power for a short time."
"Phainon is currently on the defensive, but as soon as this wave of attacks passes, he will have a chance to turn the tables."
On the arena, Phainon had been pushed to the edge of the stone platform.
Seeing this, Mydei frowned.
"Move! Don't let our heated bodies cool down!"
Phainon did not respond, still holding his sword up in a defensive stance.
Annoyed, Mydei held nothing back, throwing a heavy punch that bypassed Dawnmaker and aimed straight for Phainon's chest.
A glint of focus sharpened in Phainon's eyes.
Instead of blocking head-on, he sidestepped, sliding Dawnmaker along Mydei's gauntlet as the tip of the blade lunged toward Mydei's throat.
Mydei reacted with lightning speed; seeing Dawnmaker strike, he flipped his wrist while simultaneously kicking toward Phainon's abdomen.
Phainon would not let him succeed, raising his knee to block the strike.
Their legs collided, the force of the impact sending both of them stumbling back three steps.
Mydei looked at Phainon; although he had already consumed a significant amount of Soul Power, his fighting spirit grew ever more intense.
Phainon noticed the change in his opponent as well. Though he had also expended much of his Soul Power on defense, he was confident that he could defeat his opponent through the coming attacks.
A smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth.
"My turn."
The next second, his third soul ring lit up.
The golden light on Dawnmaker surged violently.
He gripped his sword with both hands and swung with all his might.
A massive golden crescent-shaped wave of energy swept across the entire arena.
Seeing this, Mydei's pupils constricted, and he immediately raised his arms to block.
Although he successfully parried the strike, a violent numbness surged through his arms.
Yet, he looked at Phainon with his fighting spirit still burning bright:
"Pathetic... show me your full strength!"
Seeing that his first strike hadn't defeated his opponent, Phainon grew interested and swung out another wave of energy.
This wave carried even more force than the last.
Mydei raised his arms to block once more, but this time, he felt a distinct sting of pain.
He then exclaimed with genuine admiration, "What immense power."
But Phainon had no intention of giving him a moment to breathe.
His figure flickered, and he instantly appeared at Mydei's side.
Then, he raised Dawnmaker and slashed toward Mydei's flank.
Startled, Mydei turned just in time to block, but this strike was significantly heavier than the last.
The force of it sent him sliding several meters backward.
Seeing this, Phainon pressed the attack once more.
Mydei gritted his teeth.
His third soul ring suddenly flared to life.
