Xuan Ziwen was born to parents who migrated from the Heaven Dou Empire, though he worked in the Sun Moon Empire as a renowned Level 8 Soul Tool Master affiliated with Mingde Hall. Despite his eight-ring Soul Douluo cultivation, he was not combat-specialized; his expertise was technical research and the study of rare soul-tool materials. 32 34

He led students Ju Zi, Wang Shaojie, and Ke Ke into the Rust Wasteland to investigate a metal ore that had inexplicably begun surfacing from underground magma zones. His technical knowledge made him the available candidate for the assignment, despite the region being infested with metal- and earth-attribute soul beasts. 32

During the expedition, Xuan Ziwen protected his students from a roughly twenty-thousand-year Red Iron Earth Dragon with shields, soul cannons, and sustained soul-ray bombardment. He prioritized driving the creature away rather than killing it, since the cost of slaying it was too great. 32

Recruitment by Lin Yuan
