The Star Luo Emperor presides over a royal succession system described as a brutal “insect-jar-like” struggle. During Dai Mubai and Dai Mobai’s public confrontation, he remains motionless on the dragon throne and does not intervene. When Dai Mobai severely injures Dai Mubai, however, he orders him to spare his brother’s life. 1 2

After Dai Mubai flees Star Luo City, the Emperor reacts with fury to the intelligence report. He strips Dai Mubai of his princely status, expels him from the Dai family genealogy, appoints Dai Mobai Crown Prince, and grants Zhu Zhuyun and Zhu Zhuqing the title of Crown Princess. He considers Dai Mubai’s flight a disgraceful break from Star Luo’s tradition that princes die in battle rather than run. 7

He had ruled Star Luo for more than twenty years by the time Dai Mobai reached level 40, and was himself the strongest prince of his generation. Even so, Dai Mobai attained level 40 at an age younger than the Emperor had. 8
