Yang Wudi led the Breaking Clan, a declining clan whose members were renowned for their spear aura and combat discipline. Before joining Star Luo, he was reclusive and headstrong; he had previously refused even the Star Luo Emperor's offer to become Imperial Spear Arts Chief Instructor. 29

He was once connected to the Clear Sky Sect through the four affiliated clans: Strength, Agility, Defense, and Breaking. When the Clear Sky Sect sealed its mountain, it allegedly gave its affiliated clans no warning and abandoned them; more than half of the Breaking Clan was killed or wounded. The event left Yang Wudi with a lasting hatred of the sect and Tang Hao. 60

Dai Mobai visited the Breaking Clan ostensibly to seek Yang Wudi's pharmacological judgment on an unusual Blue Silver Grass.
