Background / History

Yang Teng was formerly a corporate worker from Earth before transmigrating to the Space-Time Dragon God Star. He became the son of the Space-Time Dragon God King and awakened dragon scales, a divine soul, and powers associated with space and time. His father notices an aura from Douluo within Yang Teng’s divine soul, while Yang Teng himself is deeply familiar with Douluo Star and its gods. 1

Although his bloodline and origin are exceptional, his father seals much of his power for training on Douluo Star. Yang Teng is subject to the plane’s repulsion and cannot fully release his strength without risking structural damage to the world; the seal can only be completely undone after he becomes a god in Douluo. 3

Upon arriving at the Star Dou Great Forest, Yang Teng negotiates with Gu Yena. He promises to help spirit beasts become gods in exchange for her protection, using his father’s status and a divine spear to establish credibility. Gu Yena agrees to act as his bodyguard, while Yang Teng gains the backing of the Silver Dragon King. 3

He saves Qian Renxue from a Stinger King, guards her during her spirit-ring absorption, and thereby earns her gratitude and an invitation to join Spirit Hall. Rather than immediately accepting, he later takes her token and leaves the offer open. 4 5 6

Yang Teng joins Tianshui Academy through Gu Yena’s intervention, becoming its first male student. He proves his value by defeating Shui Bing’er and Xue Wu’s Ice Phoenix Martial Soul Fusion Skill while still a Soul Venerable. 7 8 10 11

Personality

Yang Teng is highly confident, provocative, and calculating. He routinely exploits status, rumors, and other people’s assumptions to gain advantages—for example, falsely claiming to be Tang San to redirect Liu Qingfeng’s retaliation toward Shrek Academy. 13

He is also ambitious and determined to establish his own strength rather than merely live under his father’s shadow. When Gu Yena attributes his prospects chiefly to his lineage and father, Yang Teng insists that time and results will prove his own worth. 11

His casual demeanor often masks ruthlessness. He cripples a Soul Ancestor with Space Strangling, dismisses Tang San’s accusations, and intends for Tang Hao to witness Tang San’s despair rather than simply kill him. 5 27 29

Despite this, Yang Teng is capable of consideration toward allies. He guards Qian Renxue during her ring absorption, arranges comfortable travel and sweets for Gu Yena, and warns Shui Yunxia to protect Shui Bing’er and Xue Wu after defeating them. 4 6 10
