Background / History

Bai He was the patriarch of the impoverished Speed Clan. Before Song Ye’s arrival, the clan’s extreme speed-focused development left it with inadequate offensive strength, while its financial hardship forced dependence on aid from the Break Clan. Bai He retained pride in the clan and its past connections, but struggled to address the hunger and poverty among its members. 42 44

Song Ye approached the Speed Clan by demonstrating the Xuande Divine Crossbow, a weapon Bai He recognized as exceptionally suited to compensate for the clan’s lack of attack power. Bai He initially dismissed Song Ye due to his age, then sought credit after realizing that the clan could not afford even the offered weapons. 42 43

When Song Ye disclosed his intention to recruit the clan, Bai He resisted the idea of being controlled. Song Ye challenged his leadership and exploited the clan’s material desperation, then offered a partnership based on mutual benefit, preservation of the Speed Clan’s name, elder-level authority, weapons, and resources. Bai He agreed after learning that Song Ye intended to oppose and ultimately abolish Spirit Hall. 44 46

His loyalty became complete after Bai Chenxiang consumed the Phoenix Cockscomb Sunflower supplied by Song Ye and evolved her Martial Soul into the Sharp-Tailed Phoenix. Bai He formally renounced the language of mere cooperation, declaring himself Song Ye’s subordinate and devoting himself to repaying the favor that elevated his clan’s bloodline. 47

After the Tiancheng Sect was established, Bai He became one of its leading members. Song Ye later invested immense resources in him to create a second Title Douluo for the sect, dramatically improving both Bai He’s cultivation and Martial Soul. 69 71
