Realm Characteristics
The Out of Body Realm is defined by a transformation of both mana and divine sense. Its central trait is soul projection: divine sense can leave the cultivator's body and act externally. This differs from the Spirit Wandering Realm, where the cultivator's entire soul can leave the physical body and roam independently. 592
- Out-of-body divine sense functions like “invisible arms,” allowing direct external manipulation of objects. 203
- Cultivators can continually guide launched spells, magic tools, and spiritual tools rather than losing control after releasing them. 203 592
- Divine sense can lock onto opponents, enabling tracking attacks and a near-certain-hit effect. 592
- The realm's soul pressure can immobilize Qi Induction Realm cultivators; even moving under it is considered exceptional. 233
- Despite its strength, Out of Body mana remains dependent on the body's dantian and meridians, including at the realm's peak. 773
Advancement
Advancement from the peak of the Ninth Level of Qi Induction to the Out of Body Realm is also called Foundation Establishment. The quality of this breakthrough determines the difficulty and potential ceiling of a cultivator's future path. 221
Major Hurdles
- Soul leaving the body — One of the three major hurdles in advancing to the realm. A cultivator whose divine soul can already project before the breakthrough has an advantage. 203
- Spirit Body forging — A cultivator who strengthens their divine soul before Foundation Establishment may use rare heavenly treasures and Five Elements fortune to forge a Spirit Body. 221
- Future Mystic Core potential — Successfully forging a Spirit Body is the threshold for potential advancement to the Mystic Core Realm. 221
Cultivation Conditions
- In the Tiannan Region, resources that accelerate cultivation become scarce from the middle and late Out of Body Realm onward; most cultivators must rely on personal qi refinement and polishing. 405
- With sufficient resources and cultivation comprehension, a basic qi-refining method can theoretically support cultivation through the peak of the Ninth Level. 773
- Cultivators at the middle and late stages may forcibly circulate mana when their meridians are damaged if their divine souls are sufficiently powerful, but cannot fully escape bodily limitations. 773
Combat Capabilities
Divine-Sense Control
An Out of Body Realm cultivator can maintain control over a weapon or spell after it is launched, changing its direction to continue attacking a dodging opponent. 203
- Magic swords can be redirected after missing their initial strike. 203
- Spells and tools can be guided through divine-sense locks. 592
- A sufficiently capable spatial technique can evade such locks by isolating the user from external divine sense. 590
Soul Pressure
The release of an Out of Body cultivator's aura and soul ripples can stiffen nearby lower-realm cultivators and render them unable to move. 233
- Qi Induction Realm cultivators generally cannot resist this pressure. 233
- Resisting the pressure and parrying an Out of Body cultivator's strike is portrayed as an extraordinary feat. 233
Mana
Mana in this realm undergoes a major increase in both quality and quantity compared with the Qi Induction Realm. 592
- Against ordinary Qi Induction Realm cultivators, an Out of Body cultivator can rely on overwhelming mana alone to crush them. 203
- The realm still faces an overwhelming mana gap against the Spirit Wandering Realm. 661
Known Levels and Practitioners
| Level | Known practitioner(s) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| First Level | Shen Zhengming; Shen Changchuan | Shen Changchuan assessed that he could defeat a first-level practitioner, but not a second-level one at that time. 278 |
| Second Level | Shen Changchuan | Reached after months of spell cultivation, foundation polishing, and dedicated cultivation. 353 |
| Third Level | Wu Tianhao | His strength is used as a benchmark for two Out of Body Realm combatants. 364 |
| Seventh Level | Shen Changchuan | Broke through during his battle with Qiu Kunsheng using the Qi-Gathering Origin-Returning Technique. 433 |
| Eighth Level | Shen Changchuan | His foundation was later solidified while developing his understanding of the Power of Space. 598 |
| Ninth Level | Shen Changchuan | Advanced using the Sheng-Yuan Pill after mastering the Power of Space. 632 |
Limitations
- Out of Body soul projection is not equivalent to the independent soul of the Spirit Wandering Realm. 592
- An Out of Body cultivator's body remains a critical limitation because their mana fundamentally relies on the dantian and meridians. 773
- Even peak Ninth Level cultivators are regarded as insignificant beside stronger Spirit Wandering and Mystic Core Realm experts. 840
- The realm is described as merely the starting point of the broader cultivation path. 581
