Cultivation Fundamentals

The Qi Induction Realm and Out-of-Body Realm are both foundation-building stages on the immortal path. Cultivators refine spiritual energy into magical power while strengthening their physique, qi and blood, and divine soul. 758 773

A cultivator with sufficient resources and understanding can theoretically use even a basic qi-refining method to reach the peak of the Ninth Level of Out-of-Body Realm; cultivation methods become far more restrictive only after entering the Spirit Wandering Realm. 773

Stages and Thresholds

• Early stage — Levels 1–3: The fourth level marks the transition out of this stage. 14
• Middle stage — Levels 4–6: Many rogue cultivators remain trapped at the peak of the sixth level for life. 72
• Late stage — Levels 7–9: The seventh level is the boundary between ordinary low-to-mid-level cultivators and recognized regional experts. 68 72

Seventh-Level Watershed

The seventh level produces a qualitative rise in speed, strength, mana, and divine sense. Cultivators at this stage can achieve internal observation with their divine sense, and their enhanced mobility changes the nature of combat. 72 117

• A seventh-level cultivator can cross more than a dozen yards in a single breath. 117
• Ordinary spells require two to three breaths to cast, making them unreliable in close combat unless they have reached perfection and can be activated instantly. 117
• Late-stage Qi Induction cultivators can establish a reputation in their region, unlike most cultivators below the seventh level. 68

Spells and Combat

Qi Induction Realm spells are classified as first-tier spells. They include the low-, medium-, and high-level techniques commonly used by cultivators before reaching the Out-of-Body Realm. 271

• Perfection-level spells can be cast instantly, making them particularly valuable once opponents possess seventh-level speed. 117
• First-tier spells become comparatively ineffective in Out-of-Body Realm battles, where cultivators generally employ second-tier spells. 271
• A perfected spell can develop a trait that improves a related capability, such as spell power, movement speed, visual acuity, or elemental-spell experience. 3 15 34

Limitations

A standard Qi Induction Realm cultivator's divine sense cannot leave the body. Once they launch a spell or magical artifact, they cannot freely guide it in flight; at most, they may make limited adjustments through mana resonance. 203

The Out-of-Body Realm removes this limitation through detached divine sense, allowing a cultivator to manipulate launched spells and artifacts as though with invisible arms. 203

• The transition to the Out-of-Body Realm transforms a cultivator's mana, soul, and physique, creating an enormous general gap over Qi Induction cultivators. 201
• Even a peak ninth-level cultivator can generally activate a powerful treasured artifact only three or four times before exhausting their mana. 235
