Background / History

Tang San established the poison array surrounding the Sunset Forest's Ice-Fire Yin-Yang Well and concealed the treasure land within it. He had previously used its immortal herbs to lay the foundation for the Shrek Seven Devils' eventual ascension, and left a book there containing the Mysterious Heaven Record, Hundred Hidden Weapon Solutions, and Medicine Chapter 10.

While in the Divine Realm, Tang San sensed a Heavenly Tribulation at the Ice-Fire Yin-Yang Well and realized an intruder had bypassed his Green Spirit Poison Array. He sent divine sense toward Xiao Jinchen, but the Exotic Flame Ring burned it away before it could make contact 15. His killing intent then drew the attention of an unidentified pair of black eyes within a spatial rift; the gaze inflicted severe soul-level pain and left him bleeding from his eyes, nose, and ears 15.

After later discovering that the Ice-Fire Yin-Yang Well had been stripped of nearly all its herbs, Tang San chose to investigate through Niu Tian and Titan rather than personally searching the lower realm. He restored their God Official-level strength and ordered them to find and kill Xiao Jinchen 66 67. Both subsequently died so completely that Tang San could not locate even their bodies, auras, or soul fragments 79.

Tang San next asked Rong Nianbing to eliminate Xiao Jinchen while providing a Sea God's Barrier to conceal the operative's descent. The assignment was repeatedly outsourced—from Rong Nianbing to the God of Shadow, then to a third-class god's subordinate—and ultimately resulted in another God Official's death 80 107 108.

When the Clear Sky Sect was destroyed, Tang San's divine consciousness manifested there to confront Xiao Jinchen. It failed to overcome him: its Sea God Trident was sent into a spatial rift, and thousands of Buddha Fury Fire Lotuses destroyed the consciousness 82 83. His continued unauthorized interference in the lower realm brought intervention from the God of Destruction and summonses to the Divine Realm Committee 83 109.

At the committee, Tang San defended his lower-realm intervention as paternal concern for Xiao Qi, while the God of Destruction challenged the claim and cited the lower-realm God Officials Tang San had already arranged as protection. Tang San had also concealed the God Official's shattered Life Jade Token from the wider Divine Realm in order to prevent the death from being used against him 112.

When the committee's observation screen revealed Xiao Jinchen with Gu Yuena and an infant enduring more than twenty divine tribulations, Tang San recognized Xiao Jinchen and proposed that all five God Kings descend together to eliminate the Silver Dragon King 113. He subsequently assisted in assembling the Seven-Element God-Sealing Evil-Slaying Formation around the Star Dou Forest's core region, drawing on the God Realm Center while the formation was stabilized by several thousand God Officials 119 120.

Tang San personally confronted Xiao Jinchen during the ensuing battle. He fought alongside the God of Destruction, shifted between his Asura God and Sea God divine positions, and joined the Evil God and Goddess of Goodness in deploying the Three Realms Judgment Sword 122 123 124 125. Despite the overwhelming force sent against him, Xiao Jinchen survived and later stated that two God Kings, fourteen first-class gods, and thousands of God Officials had been killed, while three God Kings escaped 128. Tang San was among those who fled back to the Divine Realm after the failed campaign 142.

Personality

Tang San is intensely protective of his long-term plans and reacts with escalating anger when events on Douluo Star deviate from them. The loss of the Ice-Fire Yin-Yang Well and Clear Sky Sect—both sites he considered vital to training the Child of Fortune—caused him to lose composure and seek immediate retaliation 66 107.

He favors indirect control, using divine sense, divine decrees, lower-realm agents, and the God Realm Center rather than openly descending himself. He refers to Niu Tian and Titan as his “watchdogs” and treats the fate of the lower realm as something to manage for his plan 66 67.

Repeated setbacks strain his relationships with other gods. He clashes openly with Rong Nianbing, disregards the prohibition on private fighting, and attacks the God of Destruction in anger 108 109.

Tang San is willing to conceal damaging information and rationalize his actions when his authority is challenged. During the Divine Realm Committee's inquiry, he framed his lower-realm interference as concern for Xiao Qi while withholding his manipulation of the God Official's Life Jade Token and the wider purpose of his plan 112.

Although his hostility toward Xiao Jinchen originated in the disruption of his plan, it escalated into a personal vendetta. After seeing Xiao Jinchen alongside Gu Yuena, Tang San immediately advocated an overwhelming five-God-King descent intended to prevent the Silver Dragon King's escape and eliminate the perceived threats absolutely 113 119.
