History

Origins and establishment

Meng Chen first introduced himself to Leng Qishuang as “the Lord of Heavenly Court, Heavenly Emperor Chen.” His unfamiliar title, attire, and supernatural methods led her to suspect that he was a deity 4.

After defeating Tang Xiao and the five elders of the Clear Sky Sect, Shui Bing'er announced the creation of a brand-new sect named Heavenly Court and assumed the title Ice Phoenix Empress 54. Meng Chen later remarked that he had also founded a Heavenly Court in the past, though he preferred to leave its administration to his disciples while focusing on cultivation and combat 65.

Early growth

The sect was built near Skywater Academy, against rolling mountains and facing a clear blue lake. Its location allowed Skywater Academy graduates to join without traveling far 55.

• Meng Chen wrote the inscription for the gate plaque.
• Shui Bing'er erected an ice-blue stone tablet beneath the gate, personally inscribed with “Heavenly Court.”
• The Heaven Dou royal family, the Upper Three Sects, local families, and Shui Bing'er's followers sent gifts and congratulations following its founding 55.

The Heavenly Court rapidly attracted applicants because its cultivation methods allowed even people with supposedly “trash” Martial Souls to cultivate Soul Power 55.

Refuge for the three sects

Following Spirit Hall's Soul Hunting Operation, the surviving forces of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, and Clear Sky Sect sought protection within the Heavenly Court 56.

Shui Bing'er hosted a welcoming banquet for the survivors and stated that she had no intention of annexing their sects 57. Their arrival nevertheless greatly increased the Heavenly Court's strength, while also bringing internal distrust and competing motives from their leaders 56 57.

War against the Spirit Hall Empire

When the Star Luo Empire requested aid against the Spirit Hall Empire, the Heavenly Court initially debated whether its foundation was stable enough for war. Meng Chen ultimately convinced the faction to deploy its entire force, leaving no soldiers or attendants behind 59 60.

At Tiger Roar Pass, Heavenly Court disciples with support-type and “trash” Martial Souls proved capable of frontline combat through their Self-Created Soul Skills. Their forces destroyed the opposing elite troops, while Shui Bing'er slew three Titled Douluo 60 61.

The victory transformed the Heavenly Court into a major continental power. Spirit Hall's leadership became alarmed that its techniques could turn commoners with hoes, pot lids, brooms, stones, and twigs as Martial Souls into capable Spirit Masters 63.

Break with Star Luo

The Heavenly Court refused applications from Star Luo soldiers after Meng Chen warned that the applicants could include spies seeking its cultivation manuals 65.

Star Luo later attempted to poison Shui Bing'er and the Heavenly Court leadership during a banquet. Meng Chen exposed the plot, and Shui Bing'er repelled Dai Xinghuang and Zhu Yueyao's Hell White Tiger fusion 66 67. She subsequently defeated Dai Xinghuang and his Titled Douluo guardian, then installed Dai Weisi as Star Luo's puppet emperor 68.

Conflict with the Angel God

After Qian Renxue ascended to godhood, she led the Spirit Hall Empire against Tiger Roar Pass. Shui Bing'er fought her despite being suppressed by the Angel Domain, but was ultimately defeated 70 71.

Meng Chen intervened before Qian Renxue could secure victory, forcing her to retreat. The Heavenly Court and Star Luo forces held the field, while Shui Bing'er's resistance became a symbol of faith and resolve for their soldiers 71 72.

Principles and training

The Heavenly Court demonstrates the ideal that “there are no useless Martial Souls, only useless people.” Its methods allow people with poor or non-combat Martial Souls to cultivate Soul Power and fight effectively 55 58.

Cultivation techniques

The faction's training methods can enable bearers of “trash” Martial Souls to become Spirit Masters, overturning the common belief that such Martial Souls cannot cultivate 55 63.
